Net play vs real life

Good day smashers, will playing a lot of net play affect my timing in regular play? Been itching to smash but work is stupid and I figured this be a good solution!

It shouldn't have a major affect on your offline play. As long as you practice tech skill offline occasionally, you should retain your muscle memory.

I talked with a couple top 5 level players in my scene about this. One of them played netplay for several hours a day for about a year and the other practices on dolphin 90% of the time. They have both told me it makes next to no difference, and as long as they play a couple friendlies they can adjust if they need to. The inputs are still all the same.

I think netplay is a good way to get practice in if you don't have a local. However, nothing beats going to a local to gain actual experience. My issue with netplay is how the viability of some characters change. Falco, Puff, and Marth are the best for netplay imo, fox sucks because of how precise you have to be with him.

F FlowinWater It's awesome that you still play this game. Do you ever go to Versus Gaming Center in Pompano Beach? Sunday night melee tournaments at Sample road and Dixie. Mondays are mini tourneys at cool stuff games in Hollywood on Taft street. Then the monthly tgl tourneys out west at the Miccosukee Gaming Center/Casino. You should go play some time.

Damn that is a name I haven't seen in a bit! I got locals here in NY and go to them from
Time to time! However playing every 3-4 months or so doesn't help, figured this net play **** will be good for me.

I might need to buy a computer though since all I got is an IMac and I hear they aren't got for it.

I7 3.3 Radeon M290, 24GB memory.

for sure. Your computer is pretty good. The only thing you might want to buy is a gaming monitor since it will reduce input lag. The BenQ RL2455HM and Asus VG248QE are solid choices.
