@Avarice, Hopefully you aren't suffering from insane amounts of snow.
Show me some statistics. I'm not buying it.Guys, in that Top5 thread I made. Someone requested me to tie FOW and Shaky. I told him no, but he insisted because he thinks FOW is better than Ness. Statistically FOW is, but I'm not switching anything until you all talk about it.
For you few Ness mains who still exist, I quit Ness for good for several reasons:
I used Ness for a couple reasons: I have amazing control and experience with him from using him for two years, I find his aggressive playstyle very fun to use, and I like his quick and powerful moveset. But the frustrations over time just add up. He has that stupidly gimpable recovery, grab release **** really sucks, and his moveset is mediocore at best. The last point of my frustrations, his mediocre moveset, I'll explain in even more detail.
Ness plays best imo when he's aggressive. Ness' defensive options aren't that good at all and we all know Ness' projectiles aren't good defensive/camping options. The thing is Ness' "combos" and followups are only mediocre. Ness has a very few low percent "combos", but they involve risky utilt/uair/PKF setups or they're aerial/grab strings that a lot of characters can break with quick moves which means that followups aren't guaranteed and requires you to properly read your opponent or you'll get punished hard.
Also since Ness' plays his best aggressively, he is forcing himself to risk being grabbed which is his biggest weakness. Ness has the tools to avoid being grabbed, but his aggressive playstyle is just asking for him to get grabbed. It's not smart to play with fire, but unfortunately Ness has to do so in order to play his best.
And lastly Ness' gimp potential is great but extremely risky. This probably frustrates me the most, we all know Ness' aerials are his strongest strength and his aerials are excellent edgeguarding tools. But if you make a single mistake or bad read, the tables will turn from a good situation to an awful situation. The last thing all Ness mains want is to be stuck offstage without a dj and only PKT to get back, praying that our opponents **** up somehow or show us some mercy.
Well I got a lot off my chest. I felt like a d*** coming in here and just saying "lol, I quit Ness since he sucks" since I love the Ness mains and I felt everybody deserved an explanation. I've been a Ness main for over two years since Brawl's release, we've all been through good and bad times and we had a lot of memorable experiences with each other. I'll still be around here to socialize and give help to anybody who needs it since I do know Ness extremely well. I'll also still be using Ness when I face any Lucas players (sorry, I kinda hate Ness dittoes) and if Ness happens to drop to low tier I'll use him for low tier tournaments.
That's all I need to say. My best advice for Ness mains brave enough to stick with him is to master his aggressive game and his PKT game, these are his greatest strengths imo. Also always be aware of Ness' two greatest weaknesses: his gimpable recovery and his grab release issues. Learn to DI well always, use your dj wisely, and don't get grabbed!
