That's a huge reason why EarthBound wasn't so popular when it came out. The humor and all that was pretty lost on us (not to mention it was specifically making FUN of America as a joke).

We can't get it. It takes us forever to understand things like that. By "us" I of course I mean America.

The story was interesting, unique, and funny. But the gameplay was bland and generic. It played like literally any other RPG. Just because they replace Blizzard, Blizzara, and Blizzaga with PSI Freeze Alpha, Beta, Omega doesn't make it special.

You're just stupid if you think a game that came out on the Snes in the 90's is supposed to measure to something today.

don't use pk fire like at all if that is the case (lucario has all day to hear you yell pk fire then roll behind you). dair/bair a lot more to try and catch his rolls. aura spheres should always be magnet canceled.

I never said I expected EB to live up to today's video game standards. Obviously the SNES has limits that don't exist today, so yes it would be stupid to expect such a thing.

That doesn't excuse the fact tgat the gameplay was the same of any generic RPG. I never said I hate EB, but I think Ness mains overhype it and I'll always feel EB is about a 8/10, which is a bit generous since I do enjoy the story.

Don't get grabbed.
Call his Dodge Rolls.
And Psi Magnet the Spheres.
Easier said than done, his dodge rolling stops my comboing out of PK fire which is how i rack up most of the damage, the down smash doesnt seem to hit him as he rolls behind me and the auraspheres seem to come at close range.

are there any safe ways to damage lucario without leaving my self open or getting close enough to be grabbed?

This is the best advice you can get really, and by one of our best Ness mains. I'd use it. :)

Dajay you know for a fact they sacrificed gameplay and graphics for the story. If you didn't that's ridiculous. Earthbound was way ahead of it's time. Also, how can you call it bland and generic when it was pretty much one of the first RPGs to EVER break away from traditional things like "mages" and "castles" and everything revolving around that.

I think you're just bashing the game now really. I mean it's your opinion ultimately but I don't know where your super high standards are coming from. There's a difference between the capability of the game and how much you liked it.

Dajay that's like the equivalent of going into the Marth/Ike boards and saying Fire Emblem sucks. You know for a fact saying something like "I don't really like x " is going to make people upset. And seriously, you put "I don't main Ness anymore and because of that I can admit I don't like EB much". And you said 8/10 which was generous for you. What does that mean? The game got lucky? Haha.

Just be cautious of what you're posting. Please.

@Trips: I saw you buddy, we're good (at least I am, but I'm exhausted).

Yink hates me now, sadface. :(

And for the record I never said I hated EB or that it sucks, I just said I'm not crazy about it. I like RPGs. :/

I don't hate you lol. I don't hate anybody really. I just wish you'd consider what you're saying and where you're saying it. It's fine to disagree but...just watch how you put all your wording together dude.

And I thought you liked EarthBound, you always asked for cool fanart (which I haven't posted lately, hmm).

Another thing i wanted to clear up, what are the best ways to land KO's, the majority of my kills so far are from the bat and PKT2.

I know dair and bair is great but i end up getting hit by attacks with a larger range

So I was playing Mario Kart online last night, and this race came up where it was 3 Yoshis against 3 Funkys. Yoshis beat the shee out of the Funkys taking 1-3. I was 1st. Twas legit.

I know your pain Kassandra.
When I found out there was a secret item like that I searched and searched.
I have played the game multiple times, and by that I mean A LOT of times.
And in every single one I either give up on finding it, or it takes me a very long time to find it.
Don't even get me started on the broken antenna, Gutsy bat and Magic Frying Pan.

TL;DR - American can't handle Japanese humor ever.
To be fair chances are it goes both ways most of the time. :awesome:

*Absolutely no random battles every 5 steps or so in a JRPG in the mid 90s where the enemies know you get stronger as well so you don't have to fight a "intense life or death" battle with a coil snake at level 99, as in this game didn't make you think those 99:99 hours of play like in some other JRPGs were the result of the game's story being long lol.
*In fact the very same coil snake bugger will run from you due to the whole fear of death you'd bring to it thing after a while as well.
*You have a choice on how you enter battle due to the enemies moving around in real time on the field. Which means if you get back attacked it is your fault usually.
*Rolling HP did add some basic flare to the basic Dragon Quest battle system that you have when in battle at least as well.

Yeah I'm going to have to disagree with you about the gameplay being bland and generic at least to certain points. EB certainly has its flaws (it has a lot of them really) but overall I'm ok at least with the battle system. By ok I mean like 3/5 though.
