That's one move. Tilts and aerials are very different. Not trying to be a jerk, anything, just pointing it out. Besides their were some chracters in melee who shared similar moves, as well.
Ness and Peach's Aerial Neutral A
Mario and C. Falcon's Aerial Up A
Ness and Donkey Kong's Aerial Down A
Samus and C. Falcon's Up Tilt A
Just to name a few.

Awesome, lil' Ninten!
Having played all of them, I can really say I want them for different reasons.
For Ness, he recalls an awesome game that was essentially a road-trip in real life with friends, fighting hippies, exploring cities, finding secrets, beating up zombies and aliens, etc. It was like a cheesy movie come to life, and it really, really made an impression on me.
For Lucas, his game is equally absorbing, but for different reasons. Ness's game is definitely more upbeat than Lucas's, while Lucas is essentially, well, a terrorist in his game. (Albeit he's fighting in a wicked society imposed by the main villain so it's understandable.)
Both of them have more than enough moves that they could be well playable and BOTH be in the game. Personally I want both of them back.
Besides, there are still plenty of moves that haven't been touched upon. If PK Flash could become an aerial blast of green energy, just imagine what PK Brainshock could be... there's PsychicShield, Explosives, Healing, PK Special, PK Starstorm just finally appeared now, PK Teleport, etc. A lot of moves ready to go.

Yup, Earthbound, to this day, is on my top 5 best games list. And you're right, there are so many moves that could be distributed between the two.

I don't think anyone's suggesting THAT, but that he will get several new moves. Heck, MARIO got a replaced special move. It would be no small stretch of the imagination to see Ness with a few new special moves.

Meta Sonic 64 is right, I dont think Sakurai would want to take the time to give ness a new movset with the time thats left and seeing how there is a second Mother spot, its going to be Claus for sure.

Actually its true. Go to the Japanese Melee website and babelfish Ness's profile. It says he was going to be replaced by Lucas but they didn't have enough time :O
Also, I bet Ness will be an alt. That'd be the best for him IMO XD

The Mother series needs to move on. Ness is outdated, as sad as I am to admit it, and having him in Brawl won't bring anything new to the table. Claus is a villain and Lucas's brother, and from the Mother game that, from the looks of it, is getting repped. I do believe things from Mother 1 and 2 could get (Assist?) Trophied, and we'll definately get music from those games.

Ness is outdated? Um...Ice Climbers...Pit...the last time they made a game, I wasn't even born!!! Although Earthbound (of Mother 2) is an old game, at least the series has kept going.
