Load the game from gecko os. If that doesn't work, use waninkoko's safe updater. You will also need to load the game using the no copy protection code on the wooed forums

I though the new HBC was resistant to the update, so updating wouldn't matter unless you have BootMii, in which case it still wouldn't matter, you just wouldn't be able to use BootMii.

It doesn't matter if it is resistant or not, updating is still a dumb idea regardless of how safe it is.

And I'm pretty sure NSMBWii's update just updates the IOSes and not your system. Regardless, you should download GECKO OS (what I linked you to) and boot it using that. It's not that hard.

If you install Wii System Update 4.2, you risk bricking your Wii console regardless of whether it has homebrew installed or not. That's how badly the update was coded. Nintendo will not pay for repairs if the update bricks your Wii, either, so you'll have to shell out $80 USD for that.

Never, ever, ever install 4.2 for any reason. Ever.

EDIT:

my HBC is like a year old, where can i get a new version, i found my old version on these forums....
Newer versions of the HBC automatically offer you the choice to download and install the latest update when you boot the channel. If your version is so old that it doesn't even do that, then try clicking here.
