Multiple Mods on Same SD Card?

Is it possible to have multiple mods on the same SD card? The main reason I ask is that Project+ and LegacyXP both have different boot.elf that are needed on the root of the SD card so I wasn't sure if it would still work if one wasn't there? Thanks!
