More Girl chars Sakurai?

So awhile ago around Brawls announcement I recall Sakurai saying he wanted to have more female characters in Brawl. Has anyone found it strange that with 12 newcomer updates we've only got one girl, and she's not actually a new character at all? Out of the 24 chars on the site only 3 are girls, I guess you have Nana from the Ice Climbers duo but thats it.

I figure there will be a few more but still seems like the number is really low so far. I know that Nintendo has mostly male main characters, and I'm not complaining, just seems kinda strange that he'd say that and so far show us no new female character. In fact a few popular candidates have already not made it. Lyn was pretty popular for awhile and Lip's stick appearing as an item is a cause for wonder if she stands a chance.

Y'know, I'm think people made that up.

About 40 times I've heard people saying that Sakurai wants more females, but not once has anyone provided a source.

There aren't a lot of female characters to get into Brawl in the first place.
Nintendo needs to make more female protagonists, and then we'll get talking.

(Btw, I'm a girl myself)

I also find it starnge that there are no female newcommers as of now confirmed :ohwell: Krystal is likely, but she is defenitly not enough. Sure Nintendo has more male superstars than female superstars but there is still a fair amount of them, and I find it unfair that 3rd parties get to be in while some all-stars (both female and male) are not. Micaiah is well supported, but there has been no female leader (of her series) newcommer in Brawl and Samus is the only one in brawl as of now. That's pretty sad, since she's not the only Nintendo female with her own series.

Wasn't that simply a fan rumour spawned from an interview Sakurai did regarding ZSS?

I recall him saying a new female character is welcome to Brawl ( ZSS)

Or something along those lines. That's all I remember from the interview.

I hope there are more females. Simply put, we've got 4 (5 if you really count Zamus) and two of them are damsels, Samus isn't sexist at all really, many of my friends who played Melee were like WTF? when I told them 'he' is a she. Zamus could be seen as sexist, but I'm gonna point to Snake, his *** is so strangly well defined in some pics, especially...

so it's not like she's the only character with a skintight suit which shows her body form off.

I think that Micaiah is still possible, also personally I'd like Kumatora from Mother 3 (Lucas's series) to be in, she's a tomboy and not a typical Nintendo female, sadly a sign of her awesomeness is also Lucas's Final smash, Pk Starstorm, so she barely stands a chance which is a shame. Krystal I've never really liked, but I see potential from her staff. Shiek IS a female in my opinion as (ZOMG SPOILERZ) She's Zelda, and I really don't see her being able to entirely change genders or needing to. Captain Syrup, I've never played any Wario game before Wario Land 4 but she seems pretty cool, a PIRATE, THE main VILLAIN and tons of potential. Finally... Motherbrain? Jking, how about Kris from Pokemon crystal? The very first female Pokemon Protagonist, and with Johto Starters we could see a differentiation from Red.

I figure there will be a few more females. The "more girls" things was basically Sakurai admitting he knew that Melee had few female characters compared to males, and that he figured Zero Suit Samus would be a nice addition to help raise that number.

He didn't say he had plans to even out the number of males and females, or even add a LOT of females. He just said he knew there was a very, very unbalanced ratio. It was all also a reference to Zero Suit Samus, so it hardly confirms that he will add many new females.

There are still several first party females that stand a chance, so waiting for a couple more weeks will answer all the questions.

Zero Suit Samus isn't even really "new"... I mean she's new, but only as a fighter, not a character... if that makes any sense. @_@ So I'm hoping for Krystal, Lip, Michaiah and anybody else who'd help balance out the female to male ratio a bit... I mean only getting Krystal still isn't enough at all... though I only really expect 1-3 female newcomers not including ZSS.

I think there should be more than 3 new girls, what CHAOSBLADE77 pointed out seems logical. If Sakurai admitted the ratio was smaller back then adding just 3 more would be decreasing the ratio.

Midna, Micaiah and Krystal hold the highest chances in my eyes... I would love it if Dixie made it, but oh well.

I doubt the ratio will be balanced out any more than it was in Melee seeing as there are a bunch of newcomer male characters... but hopefully there will be more than 3 female newcomers. ^^

The ratio may be made worst but I still think he will put in more females just cause.

Yes that's what I was thinking, about 5 or a little more since that would be a little more than double the amount Melee had, which Melee has a little more double the amount than Smash 64 had. :p

Like I many time's, I only care for Flower Power and Silver Hair, the rest I don't mind. I do want to see some more Nintendo's girls scrap it out though, that would be awesome.

There should be at least three females, hopefully more. And besides females, there needs to be more villains.

Odd though it may sound, I'm kinda partial to the idea that one prophet guy had regarding Alex from Eternal Darkness. I hardly know anything about the character, but despite the rational logic, I feel like she'd work.

Really, you learn something new every day, but I thought she was rareware and whent to the 360, meaning she ha as much chance a Banjo-Kazoii and conker.

I think krytal and miciah are both shoeins, My fingers are crossed for dixie she is one of the few female leads but you know, then I think captain syrup could be used for both villian and female.
