Down on the corner, out in the street.
If you haven't been keeping up as of late, Cloud has caused quite a few upsets at a few tournaments since his release, with Tweek getting 1st at Smash 4-Ever beating Nairo and Komorikiri getting 5th at Pre-KVO.

...And as such I have decided to make a Tournament results thread so we can keep track of Cloud's tournament placings and representation all in one thread.

Somethings you might need to have in your post:
  • Name of the Tournament in question.
  • A link to the tournament. Example: Challonge bracket.
  • Your ranking. Example: First out of 64, or 1/64.
You can also include other things such as the characters you fought in each round and the stages you were on.
Also shout outs to the Kirby boards. Most of this is their tournament results thread reworded :p

Info:
Stiff Knees was a regional, It had almost the entirety of the St. Louis PR, strong players from Carbondale and other parts of IL, and even some players from up north (we had a MA player or two).

My pool had Fye, the current #1 in St. Louis, along with Phobos who placed 7th. I won all but 3 sets in my pools, going 2-1 against #2 and #3 in my pool who played DDD and Robin respectively, and 2-0 against Fye (although game 2 was very close, I SD'd twice) who plays MK.

In Bracket I faced Jambouree who played Falcon. I won every neutral interaction but a lot of weird things happened in our set (like at one point he downaired me into the stage and I clipped through dreamland), and I ended up going to losers. I won a game against a Falcon/Mewtwo player (pretty handily too, won nearly every interaction, bodied his Falcon) and then went up against #10 on our PR. I took him to game 3, last stock, but lost. He plays Little Mac, and is one of the best players I know. I won game 1 and only lost game 2 because I messed up my recovery.

It seems unreasonable to expect a character who has been out for a month to succeed at getting absurdly good results at probably the most stacked Smash 4 super major to date. The fact that Komorikiri got 17th and M2K got 65th at a 1000+ man tournament are pretty damn in their own right imo. That's better representation that a surprising number of characters on the roster, and it's probably only going to get better.

Well one can hope

But good point, they did do very well considering the level of the tournament and the fact Cloud's only been out for a month

Meh. Forget about waiting for the Youtube upload, I'm just gonna post the VOD instead.

Lastnight in a bit of surprise MVD entered VSGC Smash Weekly 2/04/2016 and went all Cloud in it until Winner's Final where he lost to DJ Jack's Ryu and then proceeded to use Diddy in Loser's Final and Grand Finals. He settled into 2nd place at the end. Dunno if he plans on maining Cloud for real or not.

Bracket: http://versus.challonge.com/s4_020416
Tournament: http://www.twitch.tv/vsgc/v/40455438

BTW we should have Rain on this list too as he's been using Cloud (was primarily a Sheik main) for several tournaments now. He's the Umebura Genesis Cup he went to. He won it.

Sorry about not being able to find the bracket for this, don't know Japanese unfortunately.

There were 4 Clouds in the last Saturday Oh, Did I Win? 2: Ally, Blacktwins, SETHsational and Katakiri.

Ally placed first going almost all Cloud (except in two matches were he went Marth and Mario) and even beat V115's ZSS in GF using him. He also won Doubles using Cloud while partnered up with Ksev (Fox).

Blacktwins placed 9th
SETHsational placed 9th
Katakiri placed 17th

Albion (7-8th May 2016): https://smash.gg/tournament/albion/brackets
17th/150 (WiiU singles)

One of the most stacked EU Smash events to date as well as the largest UK event for Smash 4, this was a pretty great event. I lost to Ho (Bayo who ended up getting 3rd in the tournament) in pools to get 2nd seed in my pool, then in bracket on the Sunday I lost to cyve (Germany's best Diddy who got 2nd) and Patrino in a close set Cloud vs Ryu (lack of MU experience got the better of me). I need to abuse Cross Slash more vs Ryu in neutral to intercept his aerial options and challenge FA. It's all good though, good experience and for the most part I was satisfied with my play barring against cyve. Highlight was probably the set I had against Ho that was incredibly close despite being 2-0, with me almost making a reverse 3 stock comeback game 1.

Dat Monday Meltdown - Post Albion Edition (9th May 2016): http://datteam.challonge.com/dmmpae
9th/48

Typically I wouldn't mention my results at a weekly unless they were particularly exceptional (highest I've placed at these weeklies is 3rd twice as primarily Cloud within the past month and a half I think) but this one was an exception. This was our most stacked weekly to date as our Dutch friends were also in attendance alongside a handful of other top UK players who wouldn't have normally been there. I had what was possibly the closest set of the tournament vs Badr's Bayonetta (who ended up winning Albion WiiU singles and doubles as well as this tournament) taking him to game 3 last hit where I had the lead and control for most of games 2 and 3 but alas a slightly hasty Limit Cross Slash vs Witch Time cost me the set. I also managed to finally beat the Rosa player who had been beating my ass for over a year which felt very satisfying.

Overall satisfied with my performance in both these tournaments and I feel like I gained valuable experience to continue improving, as well as having a much firmer grasp on the Bayonetta match-up now.

Oh and links to the weeklies where I got 3rd:

Dat Monday Meltdown 36 (48 entrants): http://datteam.challonge.com/dmm36

DAT BlastZone 12 (25th June 2016): https://smash.gg/tournament/dat-blastzone-12-1/brackets
7th/78 (WiiU Singles)

Typically I've been getting 9th at these monthlies (past 3 or so excluding Albion) so being able to finally break into top 8 was very satisfying. Unfortunately while none of my sets were streamed, there was plenty to learn and for the most part I was satisfied with my play and know where I can improve. I lost to Homika, a strong French Rosalina, largely in due to quite a few critical errors on my part (it was probably the set I felt I played the worst in the tournament despite it being 2-1) and Matsu, a strong UK Marth main (co mains Corrin and Robin too, she primarily went Corrin through the tournament but used Marth vs me). Even though I lost 2-0 to Matsu I was a lot more satisfied with my play that set. Offstage vs Marth is terrifying haha.

Pretty good tournament overall. Hopefully I can hold this placing or get even better.
