"One piece today. They appear in the U Mario World stage, Totten. I can not see, but, what is inside the bag and then or was Luigi"
Think he might be a stage hazard.
...I still find it kinda funny how it translates as "One piece today."

I love your eloquent posts.
Hmm, yeah. I like reading about what the updates might mean for the competitive scene and from a gameplay/competitive point of view, even though I'm not a competitive kind of player.

That stage was pretty much the perfect stage already and already had a lot going on so a new mechanic for it that wasn't in the demo is really not welcome. Hopefully he's as crazy telegraphed and generally reasonable as everything else in that stage; I really would be extremely upset if such an insanely good stage (seriously, strong contender for best stage in the series) were damaged by an 11th hour addition.
NOBODY EXPECTS NABBIT.

I feel like people are going to end up going to go all "Yellow Devil" about this and insist that there's a chance Nabbit isn't a stage hazard because Sakurai didn't specifically spell it out. Nabbit is a Mario character. This is a Mario stage. Sakurai says he appears on the stage. Nabbit is a stage hazard. Occam's razor guys.

Anyway, Nabbit showing up is cool (I've always liked him) It's funny, a little while back someone suggested having Nabbit kidnap people as an AT, and I said that "we already have someone for that" in the form of TAC, who does that in Kirby Super Star. Turns out both of them ended up in the game.
Pretty sure I thought he did.

I thought he would have made a good AT, but I honestly didn't expect the new Mario stage to be incomplete at this moment. I'm not complaining about it, but it leaves me thinking about the other stages in the demo.

Eh, I don't think the stage was going to end up competitive regardless, too much **** going on with the platform movements, spikeball fishes coming up from the water, it's really mostly the cave and water sections that ****ed this one up. It's way more nasty than Pokémon Stadium, a stage that already has a good amount of people saying it should be banned.

Things were already cranked up on this stage, might as well go all the way then.

I'm both happy and sad right now.

Happy that Nabbit's in the game in a somewhat significant role.

Sad that he's not playable. Of course, that was pipe dream anyway, but I would gladly trade Rosalina for Nabbit. :b:

Dag'Nabbit! :troll:

Nabbit as a stage hazard is pretty funny to me. If he turns out to be an AT, that's funny too. Nabbit is just funny, idc.

I will add that him being a stage hazard on a already busy stage is kind of odd. Love the way he functions, but hopefully the stage is either a little less chaotic then it was at E3 or Nabbit is very rare. I would much rather it be the former. That stage has a awesome concept but the water spouts and massive ice sickles that are entirely random need to be altered to show up on their respected transformations. Then Nabbit showing up now and again to kidnap someone won't be to crazy.

I think it's that time of the day when we contemplate what the update means for Ridley.

Because everything is linked to Ridley...

Everything...

Sakurai doing his thing, you know?
I like it when Sakurai does his thing. He should do it more often and makes us all happy so we can sleep good at night.

So yeah, neat update. Kinda nice to see the Nabbit. I'm thinking he probably wasn't in the build for E3 and Best Buy. Can't wait to see how he works.

I wonder if the series symbol on the bag changes depending on who is inside, or if it is always the Mario symbol. It would be a neat touch, though it could be a lot of work for little reward. Either way, Nabbit is pretty awesome so I'm happy with this update. The stage seems pretty crazy now though, with all the other hazards, and now Nabbit showing up.

he's disconfirmed, he can't possibly fit within the sack
Not with that attitude.

That bag has Hammerspace inside of it, ya know. It can fit anything since it expands to almost any size from within.

Kinda like the opposite of Villager's net with expands on the outside so he can catch anyone with it.

You've got to believe.

This relates to Ridley, because Nabbit is purple and Ridley is also purple. Nabbit (and Waluigi) is confirmed not playable, therefore another purple character must be playable. Ridley confirmed.

His sack has always had that mushroom symbol.

Zelda has shown us that 1 purple character can appear.
Waluigi showed us it was possible for 2 purple characters to appear.
Nabbit has shown us that 3 purple characters can coexist.

Ridley could be the fourth purple character.

Illuminati has three sides.

4-3=1

Illuminati has one eye.

Ridley is Illuminati confirmed.

(Genesect and Palkia are purple too, but you're gonna be called out for making such stupid arguments against Ridley.) :troll:

Well thats quite the coincidence. :p

Anyway, cool stage hazard, and I'm glad Nabbit is getting a nice role in Smash bros. Now if only Viridi was given a nice one like this. Yes I'm still mad.

I wonder if they other stages we saw had stage hazard that we didn't see in the demo...

So, this confirms the stages in the demo weren't necessarily the final versions? (Unless I just missed Nabbit in the demo.) That's cool I guess.

The water spouts and icicles have massive tells you probably didn't notice. Water floods the background well before the water spouts begin to rise, and there are large water drops that fall from the ceiling before the icicles fall. That later effect is very hard to see on 30 fps low resolution videos like most of what's on the internet for smash 4 since the water drops are semi-transparent, but playing in person, it's a ridiculously obvious and extremely lengthy tell. The icicles also don't really do a lot if they do hit you (being frozen in smash is seriously just about the least punishing possible way to be hit) so they are seriously such a non-factor; they definitely matter less than the hazards on Halberd which is saying a lot.

Other than the new and unknown Nabbit factor, I can't stress enough just what a perfect competitive stage this is. The tells on everything it does are just so huge, and everything it does moves really slowly and impact the match weakly. However, it's super dynamic in that the platform and ground lay-out is constantly changing and there are an absurd number of combinations chosen at random. That makes it really even better than something like Battlefield in that you can never count on a static lay-out giving one character a static advantage; it just keeps jumbling incredibly fair stages that give small advantages to different characters instead of a constant one to anyone which very well may have made it the most "neutral" stage in smash history. If Nabbit jumps out and surprises people quickly or is something asinine like an instant kill, I seriously will be so upset since I had my heart completely set on what was just plain obviously a lock for a solid tournament stage and was ready to fight extremely hard against anyone who stood against this stage. It really was just perfect.

Sakurai is indicating that Ridley is not visible in today's pic, but Luigi is inside Nabbit's bag.

Everyone is dying for more stage hazards, RIGHT?

We don't have enough stage hazards. MORE, I say!

Oh, Nabbit. Yep, every stage has its hazard.

I like it.
At least this time the stage was already full of hazards...

If Ridley really is a Pyrosphere stage hazard, I'm going to be doubly disappointed (no Ridley, and Pyrosphere not being neutral).

I love Nabbit! I knew he was gonna be in the game in some form! I was expecting a Munchlax-type thing for him though (and being an AT) but I guess this works too, an appearance is still an appearance. So, he kidnaps the players in his bag? Kewl.

this doesn't seem like quite the place, but it's still kinda on-topic
it's clear that there's some manner of variance on the stage select, as there are multiple "skins" for the boxing ring as well as FD variants; does it seem plausible that there will be an option to disable stage hazards and bosses?

Nabbit represents dudebro games with locked maps already on the disc unlocked for $4.99 and fighters that give you a change of colors $2.99 for each character. Except Nabbit is much cooler.

Curiously, in the demo of the 3DS version, neither Toon Link nor Alfonzo appeared driving the train.

Also, things point towards the demo being an earlier build of the game. Perhaps Nabbit hasn't been implemented on the build the demo was based on.

Anyway, I'm neutral on Nabbit's appearance on the stage, but some people have gotten salty about it...

As long as he is rare and not intrusive like the Yellow Devil it'll be fine.

Nabbit never was in the demo. Anyway, it's unknown how he'll pop up, but if you're the unlucky one who gets kidnapped, you do risk receiving an SD if Nabbit runs off-stage.

Ok nabbit a stage hazard (if a characters in it woulden't make him a attackable hazard like yellow devil.)

Anyway was not on the demo so they're may be way way more to all of the stages that were played in all of the demos.

I'm hoping the appearance rate of Yellow Devil was boosted for the demo to ensure that everyone got to see it in their 2 minute match.

Nabbit just provides further evidence that the Demo builds are not the final version, and I'm fine with the role he got on the stage. I'd have rather seen him as an AT, but his functionality is what I was expecting (although I thought maybe he'd just snatch items)

Time really flies. Hard to believe these daily pictures have been going for a year.

The game is so close to be released, it feels a little surreal, but pleasant anyways.
