Pic of the day. New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a game where you collect tons of coins. Thus, it's only natural that many coins will appear in this stage… Wait, is this really Super Smash Bros??
If you collect 100 coins, you transform into a gold fighter! For a short period of time, your attack power will increase and you won't flinch when you receive attacks. This unique stage's name is Golden Plains and it's exclusive to the 3DS version.

According to Sakurai, you collect coins just like in the original game. When you collect 100, you get a temporary power-up.

Wario is gold by default on that stage/mode.

Very interesting stage. I like it. It's a temporary attack boost, and you don't flinch from attacks.

I wonder how long it lasts?

Interesting that we weren't told about E3, but it makes sense since he told us last week about it with Kingdom U stage.

Gonna boldly proclaim that Golden Plains will be the first stage banned from Smash 3DS tournaments.

This also might be one of those stages that won't get a For Glory mode counterpart as it is a living gimmick.

There's no Direct - it's a 90-minute Q&A with Sakurai.

Our best bet for newcomers is the Digital Presentation - although at E3 last year WFT was announced on the show floor.
