The gamestop in Manteca, California is doing a midnight launch. So what I plan to do is... Go through my normal routine on saturday. Then at 11:20pm go with my brothers to gamestop and chit chat while in line with fellow smashers. Grab my copy drive home really fast like 80 to 85 mph and play till lke 4am. Then sleep till 6am. Play all day.. g/f...foood...family..won't exist on the 10th. JJAJAJAJ :D

Oh man, I actually didn't at first consider this, but...I may indeed try for the midnight launch. I have my Wii at home, but I live at college, so when the game launches, I may not want to wait a week to play it. Therefore, I'll make sure to be home that weekend so that I'll at least have that Sunday to play the game.

Then again, I could just wait until the following weekend, provided that my schedule doesn't restrict me.

Man, I really need to consider whether or not I actually want to bring my Wii to my dorm. Honestly, I'm not sure that I'm going to be able to hold out not playing Brawl every other week. ****, I should really start making some arrangements.

I would wait. No way I'm staying until midnight again like that time I did when I was getting a Wii. I'm just going to get it when I can.

Of course they would, they always do midnight or early launches for big games. Well, Gamestop does anyway.
Unfortunately, in the North American public's eyes, Brawl is not a big game. Halo and probably Grand Theft Auto IV will be having midnight sales, but not Brawl.

I don't have a guaranteed ride. My best bet is to wake up early Sunday and take the Shuttle to Target, where I can easily buy my own copy.

If I DO secure a ride, I will see where they're going for a midnight pickup and get my copy there.

I've never been to a midnight launch before, and don't intend to go to one for Brawl, even though it will be my favourite video game of all time.

I've been waiting years already, I'll be able to wait several hours more and get Super Smash Bros. Brawl in the morning on February 10th.

Although, there is a chance I might not end up being able to get it that day, I haven't reserved a copy, so it could quite possibly be sold out, but I'm usually pretty fortunate with that sort of thing.

I'll have my brother go to Wal-Mart to try get it, I'd love to get it myself, but he works from 10 AM until midnight on Sundays, if I went in with him, I would be stuck at his workplace the rest of the morning, and all afternoon and evening...

Either way, whether it's gotten on the 10th or not, February 11th will be the soonest chance I could get to play it, I'm hoping to not have to wait any longer than that.

If my brother is able to get a copy on the 10th, then I'll stay up until he gets home at around 1 AM, just to see the game (not play it quite then, as much as I'd like to), then go to bed to get some rest.

Then when I get up in the morning (likely at around 10:00), I will from that time, to 6:00 PM, try to fit in playing it for about 5 hours, then starting at 6:00 or so, I will play for the whole evening until 1:00 AM!

I'll likely be spending most of the time that I play that day fighting through classic, building a stage or two, and possibly checking out Subspace Emissary some, as well as maybe a few Special Brawls, and some Target Breaking, and perhaps event matches, probably a little of almost everything!

It's going to be a great day, I can hardly believe that It'll be out in 6 weeks, and that I'll probably be playing it 6 weeks from tomorrow! After all of these years, it's day of launch is finally drawing near, less than a month and a half away.

I'm starting to get more excited about it than I've been in some months now, it's so close, and I apologize if I'm carrying on, but I'm just such a huge fan of the Super Smash Bros. series, and Brawl will be so much better than Melee, which is a great game.

But yes, once more, to answer the question directly; no, I won't be going to the midnight launch, I'll be having pleasant dreams of it in wait for morning then as long as everything goes well, should be playing it the next day.

i really hope there is a midnight launch. i play melee with a bunch of guys that i work with all the time, and a midnight launch would make it so we can all play brawl for the first time without someone already being familiar with it. otherwise, some people would be working on the 10th and some wouldn't, and those who don't work that day would get an advantage for the first match.

it doesn't matter in the long run, of course, but we're gonna have a couple money matches that night...or beer matches, or however it works out. =)

When brawl comes out I'll probably end up being in front of gamestop with 2 other friends at midnight with no one else around, after i pick up Brawl (my other two friends don't have wii's... lazy ***'s) I'll probably be forced to go over my friends house and start up brawl with us three and I don't know whats gonna happen from there.

I have a few running ideas depending on the situation. To start, I walk into Gamestop, ask if they're open late for launch or if they get it the next day.

Midnight Launch: Me and friends out on the sidewalk after work. If we're way back in line, I'll be cooking ramen on a camp stove. I'm an outdoorsy type shooting for the Special Forces, I don't mind the cold as much as I will the other people in line. Expecting a lot of shivering geeks, irritable mothers with their kids, and people trying to haggle their way into special treatment. I'm one of those guys who prepares for everything under the sun, I have enough junk in my pockets walking around to last me in the wild for days, I can handle a long wait in the cold.

Morning shipment: Sleep, get up before the sun does, expecting a similar line situation since this is a gamer-heavy area.

Few general tips for waiting in the cold:
Wear a hat. Most of your body heat goes out through your head.
Those Under Armour layers are worth it, but at the least wear a hoodie under a jacket.
Hand-warmers, couple bucks for a pair. Activate them and keep them in your pockets so you can keep feeling in your fingers.
If one of your friends shows up in a little hoodie like you're going to a club, make sure they have a coat so they don't whine the whole time or make you leave early. Don't be weird about it, just tell everyone to dress really warm.
Supply drops. This is slang for having some one out and about, not in line who can drop things off for you, namely fast food. Don't leave and come back, people will get pissed. If some friend is in the area, pay him for the food and throw the trash away afterwards.
Bring a book, bring a DVD player and extra headphones, anything to keep you sane out there.
Don't bother with a tent, takes too long to set up and it's heck to move with the line. I hike with a tarp shelter. Just a plastic tarp you can find in the garage, hold it up or tape it up to block the wind, use it for shade, sit on it to eat, even traps some body heat for warmth. If your friend in the hoodie keeps complaining about the cold, cocoon him in the tarp with duct tape to keep it closed. Really muffles the complaints.
...Hold it in. Just trust me on this. Avoid fluids before you head out, should be fine.

I don't plan to go to any midnight release. Unfortunately for me, Feb. 10th is also my dads birthday. I plan to go to brunch with him around 12 and then me and him are gonna drive down to the mall and pick up my reserved copy, and while I'm there buy him his birthday gift. I'm getting a bit worried though because I can't find the little paper I need to pick up my copy. :ohwell:. You think I can just tell them the name I reserved it under and show ID?

You're waiting in a line to buy a video game from a store, not go on a jorney of survival.

...Funny thing is I get that a LOT from friends in real life.

"Okay, we just need to...Dude...A machete?"
"It's a kukri."
"Dude, we're having a picnic."
"...But...It's..."
"Leave the machete at home. Where do you even GET this stuff?"

I seriously plan to dress up a bit, get out my cord-wrapped boonie hat, an old pack, look like I've been out there for months. Heck, I'll bring a camera and act like I'm doing a really, really pathetic
'Survivorman' copy.

The Gamestop in my town is doing a midnight release, and I will definitely be there hours beforehand...in costume. XD

I have a Pit cosplay that I'll be wearing, along with my friends who will be Solid Snake, Sheik, and Pichu. We'll have a camcorder, so I'll post the vid when the time comes. XD

Assuming my gamestop has a midnight launch, just to play it as soon as I can :D. I can't wait for it to come out and Midnight Launches in general are just fun.
