Fresh off a victory at the year-ending 2GGT: ZeRo Saga, Mexico's Leonardo "MKLeo" Lopez Perez is heading into the 2017 season under a new banner.

Echo Fox announced on January 4 that the 15-year-old Smash Wii U wunderkind has joined their ranks. This pickup makes him the team's second Smash player, the first being series veteran and top 5 Melee player Jason "Mew2King" Zimmerman.

Here is the official announcement:

MKLeo is a Mexican player that caught the international eye after he defeated renowned Dutch Sheik specialist, Ramin "Mr. R" Delshad at Smash Factor 4 with Meta Knight. His other notable placings include the Rio Olympic eGames, where he got 3rd, and 2GGT: Zero Saga, where he swept the event with Marth.

The team he is joining is a multi-platform eSports organization owned by former NBA star Rick Fox. The team fields top-level rosters in titles such as League of Legends, Counter Strike: Global Offensive and a wide array of fighting games

Mew2King was also confirmed to be staying with the team for another year.
Author's Note: This pickup could prove to be very much beneficial on Leo's part. With Echo Fox's support, he'd have an easier time making it to the United States for tournaments. Smashboards wishes Leo the best of luck with his new team!

Be sure to follow Echo Fox on Twitter @echofoxgg and their new addition MKLeo @mk_leosb, and stay tuned to Smashboards for more Smash-related content coming this 2017.

MKLeo and M2K Smash 4 teams??? That'd be hella dope. Congratz to MKLeo for the pickup!

Team Echo Fox just sponsored 3 of the greatest Street Fighter players of all-time, one of the best multiple fighting game players of all-time, the two best NRS fighting game players, and the newest Smash 4 major winner.

What a day for them.
