The themesong of Meta knights ship from Kirby super star. Its good to know that Sakurai remade it and made it one of the selectable songs to go with the Halberd stage.

Well, the remake blows. Its horrible. Could have been good, but its not.

--

For those of you who had Kirby superstar for the SNES and have played Meta knights revenge, you know exactly what Im talking about.

For those of you who have not, click the following link.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ce8tGriw0KA

During Kirbys arrival of the halberd, and all of Meta knights men have been aware of his approach, they quickly alarm their troops for battle, as kirby makes his appearance on the halberd.

What an epic song that was.

--

Now, take a listen to the revamped edition.

Quick description by Sakurai-

"It was in Kirby Super Star that Meta Knight rode out on the Battleship Halberd to govern Dream Land. This is a jazz arrangement of the music from back then.
WELL? How do you like it?!"

Jazz? Uh, boy did that mess up a large portion of that song. I would have rather had it done in acoustics. Do I like it? No, I don't.

I know its just a song. But hey, I like my music when Im playing smash. Playing the halberd stage with the original song or a DECENT remake would have been great.

Anyways thats it. Feel free to comment.

If you ever played Kirby Superstar, you'd know that the original is 10x better than the remake, and it doesn't fit with the whole dark and mysterious nature of Meta-Knight or any of that

well, i suppose i can agree that the jazz remix sounds too happy for someone as evil as metaknight, but it really doesn't deviate from at least the example link ruggeth gave. Its almost dead on. Orchestra remix would have been epic, but everything is epic in an orchestra remiz, and that was their theme in melee so...

I played the original, and even have the entire Kirby Super Star music on my computer. I love the song and do not agree it is 10x worse.

To me, there are parts that are better in the original, and some that were better in the revamp.

Also, I'm really sure you had to make a thread on how pissed off you are, and post this in the Dojo updates thread.

It's a good, upbeat, fast-paced song that should be good for fighting too. The original is good but this song is great I don't see problem with it. I guess if your a Kirby purist, then thats just the way you think. If you don't like it you can always set your own music for the stage.

It's not a bad remake but I'm not a huge fan of it. It seems very out of place considering what it's suppose to be representing. I really didn't expect to hear a jazz theme while fighting on the Halberd. Or perhaps this is the nostalgia talking to me. :-P

confirmed. Sending supplies.
I've played Kirby Superstar, and I like the remake. Why? It fits with SMASH. It may not fit as well with Meta Knight as the original, but it definitely fits Smash Bros, IMO.

I...love the Remake.

The original didn't actually sound that good to me...

O_o I'll listen to both again.

EDIT: Yeah to me, the original blows. I like the fast-paced music...

Ignoring the people trying to be mods.

Anyways, I didn't like the Jazz aspect of it at all. It ruined its charm for me

I would have prefered its "Jazz" segment to be more acoustic. Really, a guitar remix would have been alot better.

Right, but I choose to complain about a song that could have been better in my opinion.

Then again, I can always bandwagon and complain about a bug being taken out.

What do you have in mind? That Captain Falcon hasn't been updated on the Dojo even though everybody knows he's in? -_-;;
I don't have anything in mind... I actually ENJOY the game.

Shocker I know!

All i'm saying as that this thread is pretty dumb.

If you know he's in why bother. Besides, I'm waiting to see these Geno/Ridley/Ashley predictions prevail, or fail.

Truth be told, I like the jazzy remix version better. The original always got repetitive after awhile whereas this arrangement has enough spice that I can listen to it for some time before I get sick of it.

I was never a fan of the original song. And never thought it was that epic either. I'm sure if they had done an orchestral remix THEN it would have been epic. But I can hardly call the original epic.
That said, I like the jazz remix better. It keeps me more interested than the older version. Whether or not it matches MK isn't really an issue here since the original didn't really match him much either.

I like the remix a lot better. Its more up beat, and id love to play with this music going.

Still, I with was a little darker sounding.....the only problem with the song imo is the saxophone.

I love it. Its upbeat, regardless of how it used to be, the upbeatness and jazzy tune adds a hyped up feel to the match.

Somewhere, most likely existent
While I like the original better, I think the jazz remake is really nice. It really adds a new dimension of sorts t the song.

And no, I haven't played KSS, but I have played KAR and heard the song (and loved it) from there.

Quoted for truth. I think kirby super star is the best kirby game in existence and although the remake was good, it dosn't even compare to the original arrangement, or the kirby air ride one for that matter (to listen to it hold x and y before you start a machine passage run. If you've unlocked the song it should play instead of the regular machine passage music).

I won't get into arguments about how "Meta Knight represents the dark\evil\mysterious part of Kirby games" but, I want everyone to remember this:

Kirby is a kiddy\happy\colorful and light hearted series, what people here seems to demand from Meta Knight and the Halberd is OUT OF CHARACTER OF THE SERIES.

I like both renditions, actually.

And that's my opinion. If you prefer one over another, that's your choice. Besides, everyone has preferences, and there are no actual, hard-and-fast rights or wrongs when it comes to opinions.

The clarity and quality of the song is better in Brawl, but the original Meta-Knight theme, thus far, I think is a better arrangement. However, my favorite part of the song starts during the fade-out at the end of the preview we got at the Dojo, and I cannot wait to hear it.

Also, there's a chance that the extended version will have a speedier part, and this slow part of the song is the build up.
