Even with tap jump on, you shouldn't do up-air strings with it, because then you can't have your maximum horizontal DI while doing them. Jump and use C-stick up rapidly (use the claw, or be fast with your thumb).

Thanks Roman. Although I just relized that i've always been playing with tap jump on without realizing it. I'm so stupid. When I actually tried turning it off I hated it. I can see why most Meta players keep it on. ;) But do most Metas change controls like make x something else or Z do something else. I've been using the default controls lol.
Well when I mained D3 I had a different control setup, but when I decided I was gonna start use Metaknight a bit more seriously, I noted that Dojo and M2K both use default control setups. So if it's good enough for them it's probably good enough for us.

Power shield the projectiles. It helps a **** ton in chasing him down which is your main objective.

Rush him down and wait for his zair. Powershield that and grab. Dthrow and chase at them. Usually they'll zair, but with correct timing you can actually powershield that, rush them and re-grab. It's pretty fast but possible.

If you're in a position where you're shielding next to each other wait for his move. Usually they like to jump aerial oos. Just shield that and aerial oos. It ***** them.

Focus on getting them offstage. Learning how to edgeguard him isn't hard. If they throw a boomerang just manuever around it. Just watch the jump fair at you. If they try this just simply use a jump then fast fall dair on them. If you can hit them with 2 dairs or more off stage they're usually done.

I love Toon Link. :]

Yo Dojo, you have teamed with hylian a few times right?

What should metaknights main role throughout the match be when teaming with a G&W?

It is not like I am with a character snake who can consistently stocktank, though G&W momentum cancelling is great.

Basically, should I be very patient and nado spammy?

MK/GW is deadly but it requires alot of teamwork. I teamed with UTD Zac (who imo is one of the best doubles players in the world) for Genesis and I had to convert my style alot to work with him.

You wanna focus on racking damage and getting grabs. Any grabs MK gets after 90 or so, depending on the character, is a free kill from a running GW upsmash. Grab to smashes are freaking amazing with this team.

That's really all I focused on was racking damage with aerials, tilts, and getting grabs. Zac did the rest. Managed to get us 3rd and we beat M2K and Fiction in winners. Usually ended up in Zac getting 5 or 6 kills every game. xD

I just realized I need Help with the Lucario match up. I played Zucco yesterday in 2nd round of winner at Viridian city and he gave me lots of troubles. I got him to like 5% last stock one time and he 2 stocked me the other time. It felt like I couldn't do anything. He is a great player though.

Any Lucario tips?

How many MK mains would you say there are?

And, how do you guys cope with all the **** that people say about MK? :mad088:
The community is very friendly in person. When people are arguing saying MK is broken or he isn't broken online, when they get to tournaments, it is the TO's decision on what happens with MK. People accept that and move on. I have actually been in a serious debate with someone in the MK ban thread and there were insults flying around because we both thought eachother's points were absurd. At the tournaments after that, there wasn't anything mentioned at all.

Affinity. only scrubs think he should be banned!!! x# (semi-joking)

Oh there is only 8 mk mainers. Truth

Hey guys sorry if this has already been asked, my search function isn't working for some reason...

Um as an ex D3 main I have a habbit of doing running shield grabs with all characters as apposed to dash grabbing, as in D3's case his shield grab is vastly superior.

This is infact not the case with meta knight right? I am led to believe that metas dash grab is better then his running shield grab? I think I've heard this before but I want confirmation from the people in the know :)

Cheers

I have a few questions:

Which moves do I use for damage racking?
Which moves do I use for killing?
Which moves do I use for spacing or zoning?

Basically.. How do I play MK?

you can figure out those first 3 questions after spending a few minutes in training mode.

His whiffed up B / specials are easily punished as they all put MK in free fall state and he has terrible aerial movement(also his tornado has a some start up time so take advantage of it). His jab is easily punished as well but MK's moves are relatively harder to punish compared to the rest of the cast as long has he spaces them correctly or doesn't use things like jab, side special, and down special on the stage.

They can ground break against MK. If you wanna do a GR to UpB on Wario, you have to dash grab them and have them dangling off the edge.
