Wow, did not see this team coming! What possible reason can you think of how these characters teamed up. And on that matter why Link and Yoshi are teamed up. Personally, I can't think of any way right now.

I'd love to see Snake and Yoshi be traveling together for this adventure.

Most pairings seem kinda random for the most part. Even Mario and Pit is kinda random...

Kirby and Zelda? Diddy and Fox? Yoshi and Link? Will we be seeing something like Snake and Jigglypuff? That would be soooo awkward lol!

And Ice Climbers was his childhood favorite game.

I too would like to put a character I made, fight along side StarTropics' Mike, in a Subspace Emisary thing if I was him. :D

I think since Diddy is having 2 mates on SSE, probably everyone will go by their own way.. and finally last 2 characters will face the Last Boss (SSE Leader)
