They'd say we should join them.
We say they should join us.
There's nothing in it for us if they win.
There's nothing it it for them if we win.
Unless Mike Z is like "screw my game, lets push Melee" then this isn't happening...
but we can dream I guess.

Also, is there like a $5000 donation cap? Why go in intervals like this?

This really sucks.

Japanese players usually gather at BBSes, which work in a similar fashion to 2ch, or 4chan textboards. I'm looking onto this right now, I found 2 BBSes for ST, but neither of them has any recent activity, so I'm afraid they're taking it private.

Or variations between 2X and IIＸ. I'm somewhat busy right now, so I can't dive too deep onto this, but I'll be up for it later. I'm also up for translation requests.

Look on the bright side, that's 30k more to Breast Cancer! :D

Although Melee getting into EVO would be pretty cool and stuff.

So they've been waiting until the last moment to donate, so what? We've got TriHex's stream going on and the final Spirit Bomb tomorrow. We have the raw numbers to do this, if we're really end up a little bit behind near the end of this we can easily overwhelm them if everybody remotely interested in competitive Melee just pushes in another 10 or 15 dollars at the end.

Just keep cool and get your wallets ready.

The reality is this:

Japan has a negative birth rate so hella men are single
Japanese OG ST players are all probably single
Kuroppi didn't mention that ST was gonna be at EVO this year; in fact he was hesitant to run it again (see: ST documentary). Japanese OG ST players loved watching ToL and want it again (despite the fact that only 2 JP players entered etc) so they figured if Kuroppi can't run it then maybe MrWizard can
Japanese OG players see it as spending money on a girlfriend
Bam, they sniped us

Not that hard to understand folks. This isn't fact but probably the most plausible
