Mayflash Adapter not working on Wii U/Switch?

Earlier today I picked up Smash 4 after quite a while of not playing and tried to use my mayflash adapter and gamecube controller. Even when it was set to Wii U/Switch it didn't work at all in game. I tried plugging it into the Switch and that didn't work either. Both of these consoles I've used the adapter with in the past and it worked perfectly fine, but not anymore? The cable itself looks fine and the adapter and controller work just fine on Dolphin so idk. Anyone have any idea what happened/how to fix this?
