Matchup Chart Project 2015 - Calling Olimar Mains!

Hello Olimar boards,

I'm Zareidriel. Over in this thread a guy called Assassannerr made a matchup chart, and asked people to help fill it out. It seems like it would be a cool thing to have. With once glance you could have a rough idea of a matchup. It won't be perfect, but for our first go at it in 2015 we're aiming for "somewhat functional."

So here's what I'm going to do. Go to every Character Discussion board, and ask the folks there if they wouldn't mind contributing. To submit one vote, you'll have to fill out one of these:

Mark each character with a number 0 for a match you feel is very even.

NOTE THAT I AM ONLY TAKING VOTES FROM MEMBERS WITH Olimar IN THEIR PROFILE BAR. It can be as either "Wii U Main" or "3DS Main". But if Olimar is in neither one of those slots when I count the votes on Friday, Nov 13, it won't be counted.

(Yes, for the avid democrats out there, that means you can vote for one other character as well.)

Like I said, they won't be perfect, and each board will probably be a little biased toward their own respective character. But the results should be interesting regardless.

If this thing is successful maybe we'll do a revised version in 2016.

No problem, if you're not sure on a matchup just mark it with a 0. I'll account for that it the final results. Just try not to overuse the 0's if at all possible.

I put question marks beside some zeros because those are the matchups that I really have no idea on whose favor it goes to.

Hey, I'm here from the Zelda boards - what is the reasoning for giving Olimar the favor in the matchup? Against a Zelda safely using phantom and Nayru's Love, Olimar's Side B and smashes become extremely risky - are grab, aerials, and Nolimar moves enough to make up for this?

unsure on mii fighters since customs, and some of the match-ups can go either way based on the stage so i left most of those as 0

Get off your high horse. It's similar to any other character with a reflector. She can't spam it because it's laggy, and Zelda has no way to actually approach Olimar. I don't need to use Smashes to land kills when I have uthrow, bair, and uair.

I'm surprised basically everyone who voted said sheik was a disadvantage? I guess I just havent faced a good sheik? Though I personally haven't ran into any major problems with one (I usually just tend to roll spam on them and throw pikmin and run away). For me I felt it's about even....

edit: to elaborate when I say roll, I mean I've found they can fall pray to getting down smashed from behind , I usually go for down smash on this one because it can come out quickly from both sides in case you happen to misjudge their movement. Also sometimes if I'm lucky I'll get a player who's easily frustrated by having pikmin on them, so I'll try to exploit that if I can. Their dash attack can be easy to punish if you roll behind them.

Sheik is our hardest matchup by far and sheik has NO NEGATIVE MATCHUPS.
and "spamming roll" never works against any competent player.

I never said it was a positive match up for Olimar, but I think it's similar to captain falcon in the respect that Sheik needs to get close to actually do damage

I'm pretty sure you haven't, but I think Flawlessh didn't meant to be rude neither (and I think he wasn't), just don't take it personally.

It's ok, you will fight against a good Sheik at some point but Mothman you are free to post your opinion as wel, even when everyone thinks different.

Teleports are bit slow and punishable, Nayru's Love is good for countering smash attacks, but is predictable, and the Phantom does not block side-b. The rest of Zeldas moves are about as good as Olimars at close range.

This comes from somebody who shields and dodges a lot due to an inhuman reaction speed, but whatever.
