This Sunday (August 28), Japan's top Super Smash Bros. Melee players will not only be competing for the gold at Master Hand 17 but also for an all-expenses-paid trip to The Big House 6. Here's what you need to know about Master Hand 17, including the stream info and player profiles.

Stream Info

The Threats

aMSa :yoshimelee:: Coming off a solid 9th place at Super Smash Con 2016, fan-favorite Yoshi main Masaya "aMSa" Chikimoto is looking to win his first Japanese tournament since KVO x TSB 2016 in April. However, the road to victory will not be easy for aMSa -- Peach/Fox main Shippu has been undefeated against aMSa since December 2014, and Rudolph is even in sets with him this year.

Rudolph :marthmelee::foxmelee::sheikmelee:: Known for being the best Marth in Japan and his unique seating while playing, Daiki "Rudolph" Ideoka is hungry to return to the U.S. after his American training last year. Rudolph has dominated the Japanese scene since returning from America, only dropping one tournament this year, making him the likely favorite to take Master Hand 17.

Shippu :peachmelee::foxmelee:: Shippu could make a deep bracket run this weekend. He dominates aMSa, as previously mentioned, but he is 1-5 against Rudolph and 2-5 against Nanashi this year. If Shippu can take down Rudolph and/or Nanashi, a win at Master Hand 17 could be in reach for him.

Kounotori :falcomelee:: Hot off a 33rd place finish at EVO 2016, Yosuke “Kounotori” Kono is a wild card going into Master Hand 17. Though he has losing records to Rudolph and Nanashi this year, he has shown the potential to take Japanese tournaments in the past, as shown by his recent tournament victory at Master Hand 16.

Nanashi :samusmelee:: Japan's premier Samus main, Keisuke “Nanashi” Hirata has consistently placed top 6 in Japanese tournaments this year. To win a trip to The Big House 6, Nanashi will have to overcome players who hold positive records over him this year, such as Rudolph, aMSa and K.F.

Some more notable players at Master Hand 17 include Tapioka :falcomelee:, K.F :jigglypuffmelee:, Yuu "So-ten" Sakai :foxmelee: and Zoma :mewtwomelee:.
