Custom moves are banned

DSR - Can't pick a stage you have already won on

For info on why Norfair and PS2 are only legal in Top 8, it is due to this process:
http://youtu.be/S9Dxb_IJpV0

Top 8 is referring to Winner's semi's, loser's quarterfinal's, and up.

Also if either of those stages are picked, the players must change the time to 9 minutes. If it is forgotten, and a timeout occurs, then the match result will be decided by that timeout result. The players in Top 8 must remember this rule for their own sake, just in case a TO isn't there to remind them of it.

CREW BATTLES

CYPRESS vs KATY 5v5 CONFIRMED
From Cypress:
Krebs:4villager::4shulk::4littlemac:
NK:4ness:
BC:4villagerf::4diddy:
ToT:4dedede::4mario:
Weegee:4mario::4luigi:

From Katy:
Karna:4sheik:
CH12:4peach:
JewMuffin:4falco:
Knife:4link:
Nidak:4gaw:

(More as SFC1 date approaches)

Crew battles added to this list is at the TO Krebs' discretion.

Crew battles will happen after Singles, and we can run 2 crew battles simultaneously due to the 2 stream setups.

Since it ought to be late when Crew Battles can begin (11:00p.m. perhaps) ALL CREW BATTLE competitors get FREE energy drinks.
(Sponsored by GS Krebs)

Crew Battle Stagelist is the same as Top 8 of Singles. The player that eliminates an opposing crew battle member bans 3 stages out of the list, and then the opposing player coming in counterpicks.

ADDITIONAL INFO
SETUPS WILL BE NEEDED
Between Team GreenSleeves and GameGuys, we have 9 total COMPLETE setups, but more will be needed from the community.

THIS EVENT HAS A SINGLES CAP OF SETUPS x 6

So for example if we have 30 full setups, the cap is 180 so that the single's tournament can reach its conclusion in a timely manner.
However regardless of setups, the hard cap of 216 must be placed.

No Doubles cap

Bring AV cables (from the wii) in case your Wii U needs to be hooked up to a CRT.

Conversely, feel free to bring your HD TV so your setup does not need to be put on a CRT. Any TV brought to the venue MUST have MINIMAL display lag, otherwise a CRT will be used in its place.

Also: NO FRIENDLIES OR MMs ARE ALLOWED DURING BRACKET

There is a designated hour for this, and the TO's will remove setup #s from setups as they open up after singles.

All registration will be day of and will be operated by GameGuys staff as well as Team GreenSleeves

All information in this post is tentative, and edit notes will be included in the comment below.

EDIT: 3/16/2015

Cypress vs Katy crew list added.
Hard cap of 216 (regardless of setups) placed

EDIT: 3/18/2015

Amiibo side tourney added

4 bracket method revealed.

Description of the 4 bracket method:

Say we have a turnout of 200. We will split it into 4 brackets of 50 people, with 8-10 setups for each bracket.

There are 2 designated TOs for each mini bracket. Players themselves can even step in to help at any time, call their own matches, etc..

Each bracket gets narrowed down to the top 8 and DOES NOT get played out.

Once each bracket gets their top 8, players are free to go on break. Once the last bracket finds its top 8, the official hour break begins.

After that hour break, we run the top 32 of singles.

Fair warning regarding stages only available with 8-player Smash, if a Lucario gets involved, you'll have to take extra steps to make it fair.

True, and I remembered that. We need to start with 12 stocks correct? We will do exactly that for those players. Fortunately it is only top 8 in singles and top 3 in doubles.

Yes, you just need to set-up an extra Lvl 1 CPU Jiggs with a 300% handcap with the four stocks, kill the Jiggs, then everyone SD's a stock and goes back to their starting positions. It obviously will not come up often, but just be aware this is how it has to be handled if it does.

Ok thanks for the tip. I was made aware of it when I uploaded that PS2 video, but not the absolute solution.

I'll add that stipulation to the ruleset when I get on a computer later.

Could you explain how that works? I'm curious.

Also just how many monitors will there be? I could still bring one or two just in case.

Just like in Brawl, Lucario's Aura is affected by stock counts. It's not as strong as it was in Brawl, but the effect is still there. If you have 5 players (for the 8-player version of a stage) and one player SDs three stocks, the game considers Lucario to be ahead two stocks and penalizes his Aura accordingly.

CPUs do not effect Aura. So setting the 5th person as a Lvl 1 CPU Jiggs at 300% handicap solves this problem. Starting with four stocks so that in case the Jiggs hits anyone and to get rid of any potential stale move effects. You must also set the timer to 9 minutes (maybe 10 min in case it takes too long to reset the situation).

It's a lot of extra work for just a few extra stages but hey...if you want to complicate things...a TO must make it fair for everyone.

There will be ~20 monitors. More would be appreciated so we can avoid running Wii Us on CRTs, but its not an issue since we'll just open up the CRT setups for friendlies ASAP.

Alright cool. Also I'll probably bring my full setup and a monitor since I got an extra cord back for it so you can use it for stream if you like. I know it was kind of awkward at TGC having to share the monitor with the stream manager.

Will there be an amiibo vs. amiibo tournament.
Yes! I need to edit it in tomorrow but I got confirmation from a friend that is willing to run it entirely. With 2 setups dedicated to it and a 48 amiibo cap.

So quick question. Is this monthly taking over for the 4 glory series? Haven't seen info on the next one so I just assumed.

This monthly series is mainly part of the Houston Monthlies overall.
There won't be another SFC until July, because of TGC, TX Showdown, and ComicPalooza.

And Alex (the host of the FG series) is taking a break from hosting Sm4sh while he is in school. He is however, hosting PM/Melee every month.

Can an Amiibo be substituted if a dubs partner has to leave early, assuming no equips or custom moves on the Amiibo? Just curious.

Sorry but can't. Amiibos are artificially stronger than players. Even without being fed.
