I can imagine this being actually set up, from Snake's perspective, like a Metal Gear game. Intel is recieved that a man in a white coat is carrying mysterious and powerful pellets around, and the implication is that Snake thinks Dr. Mario is some crazed drug seller. On the other hand, Dr. Mario has discovered a mysterious virus variant (which takes a form similar to those in the original game, of course) and he, going full conspiracy theorist, thinks that the government made it. The pair start looking for each other and eventually battle, eventually working out their own mistakes.

It does help that these two have a psychic connection, but the idea of Ness mysteriously going missing, and his last thoughts that Lucas picked up being in association with Gigyas, meaning that Lucas starts chasing down Mewtwo. Meanwhile, Mewtwo despises humans - but is intrigued in Lucas's own psychic abilities, seeing a lot of himself within the timid boy. The end has Mewtwo helping Lucas come to terms with his abilities.

Given that electricity and water don't mix, the pair - also being Pokemon - are quite an interesting pair here. Perhaps the story could work a little like having them both on their various "Pokemon journeys" and their trainers are actually just rivals?

how did we get here Okay, so here's my actual thought - Wolf, being a bounty hunter, discovers that Jigglypuff has the ability to put others to sleep, and is paid by an undisclosed buyer to acquire one. As a result, he puts some earplugs in. On the other hand, Jigglypuff is trying to sing to a crowd when Wolf turns up, and given he's the only one not to fall asleep, Jigglypuff is overjoyed - though upon Wolf trying to "kidnap" her, she attempts to fight him off. The eventual reveal is that the undisclosed buyer is actually a talent scout, so it all ends well.
