There will be a S-tier tournament this weekend, so I guess another discussion topic should be created.
There are only 273 player, however it's really stacked.

Raito sure does get put in brackets/early rounds with top wiifits a lot. He had acestarthe3rd at evo, adanastran at smashcon and now rockstarace here.

Not sure who z is

I think it might be the Z who mains :ultpikachu:; he does well at his locals and has had a few good showings at bigger tournaments.

Also, Pandarian and Goblin might actually bust out their :ulttoonlink:s; as much of a meme they've been making out of him, they both ended up using him for Doubles and got 13th place.

I didn't think it would be the Vegas Z because 50th seed seems rather high (in comparison to the low seed of Dakpo who's from Vegas as well) and he isn't that high on the Vegas PR.
But yeah, what do I know. Maybe we get to see him on stream.

Zan does play :ulttoonlink: apparently. At least in his first round.
Pandarian also used Tink.

So, uuhhh...

Myran :ultolimar: 3-1s zackray :ultjoker:; say what you will about Myran, but that reversal from him near the end was so clean. I am surprised zackray decided not to opt for :ultrob: even once during the set.

Wow, an actual Sudden Death situatiom happened with Samsora vs Stroder.

So..that game is counted towards Stroder?

Salem:ultsnake: 3-0 Armada:ultinkling:, ending his run at 17th place.
Stroder:ultroy: 3-1 Samsora:ultpeach: with a crazy sudden death situation as a cherry-on-top.
Mr E:ultlucina: 3-0 BestNess:ultness::ultpalutena:, ending his run at 25th place.

VoiD:ultsheik: 3-0 MuteAce:ultpeach:

MuteAce was about to take game 3 convincingly, but then VoiD Sheikville'd MuteAce at T&C at a very early percent.
Something I noticed throughout the set, was that MuteAce had a bit of an airdodging habit against him.

I'm getting serious deja vu vibes of Port Priority 5 with the Prodigy vs. Nicko showdown happening all over again; Prodigy even got there the same exact way he did last time (defeating Myran 3-0) lol

EDIT: Felt like making some predictions for who'll win:

Winner's Side:

:ultjoker: MKLeo 3-1s Dabuz :ultrosalina::ultolimar: - As strong of a player Dabuz is, the only major players I know that have actually won a tournament over MKLeo recently are Marss and Samsora; I'm not sure if that'll change.
Marss :ultzss: 3-2s Gluttony :ultwario: - Their games were very close back in Smash Factor 8; both players know the match-up well so I can see this going both ways.
Stroder :ultroy::ultmario: 2-3s Light :ultfox: - Another match I can see going both ways given that both players know their opponents' characters very well. Also, has Stroder used Greninja recently?
Nairo :ultpalutena: 3-1s VoiD :ultsheik: - I imagine Sheik struggles pretty badly against Palutena given how superior her coverage options are; at the same time, VoiD's been making Sheik work very well this tournament.

Loser's Side:

Nicko :ultshulk: 3-1s Prodigy :ultmario: - While I don't think things are hopeless for Prodigy, Mario struggles hard against Shulk, and Nicko knows the match-up like the back of this hand; don't really expect things to be much different from Port Priority.

Salem :ultsnake: 3-1s Raito :ultduckhunt: - From what I've seen, Raito struggles against Snake as a whole (reference: MVD at Come to Papa) and it doesn't help that Snake's kill power is so much more ridiculous compared to DH's.

Samsora :ultpeach: 2-3s Tea :ultpacman: - I don't know if either player has much experience with their opponent's characters; when it comes down to match-up inexperience, I think Pac-Man has the edge in that department.

MuteAce :ultpeach: 3-2s Pandarian :ultpokemontrainerf: - These players seem to be on par with each other skill-wise, so I can definitely see a back-and-forth going on between them.

It does seem Pac-Man may have a slight advantage in the MU

From the looks of things, both Sammy and Maister got very impatient with Pac-Man's zoning tools (Sammy didn't respect Bonus Fruit enough, Maister tried to get rid of the Hydrant as soon as possible). Either way, can we at least agree Pac-Man's one of the most annoying characters to fight at a high level?

Also, MuteAce :ultpeach: 3-2s Pandarian :ultpokemontrainerf::ulttoonlink: to eliminate him at 13th place.

In regards to the samsora tea match, I would think tea would have a good amount of experience against umeki. So I imagine he has a decent amount of top paisy level experience.

Well... that went much different than I expected.

Prodigy :ultmario: 3-1s Nicko :ultshulk: to eliminate him at 13th place. Has Prodigy been grinding the match-up? He looked so much more in control this time.

The amount of times he air to air'd with uair and converted it to big damage made all the difference.

Mario's uair is weirdly massive.

Whatever it is Kameme is doing with Wario to beat Tea (He has won 4 sets in a row against him, winning 3-0 in their last one just a few weeks ago), Glutonny isn't incorporating just yet. He's gotta learn how to hold a lead I think.

And it seems that Void has to actually rely on Pichu for the big wins.
I really don't think that his Sheik will stay being good, she even struggles now.

He defeated MVD:ultsnake: and MuteAce:ultpeach: (although VoiD kind of robbed MuteAce right when MuteAce downloaded him) with Sheik, which is a few nice wins on the belt, although you may be right.

Game 3 Nairo vs VoiD its Sheik issue defined.

When your opponent is at 0%

Sheik gets her strings of 4-5 fairs going , it leads 20 % at best.

Palu chains 2 nairs and a possible nair or fair follow up. together thats 40-45% .

That true, however MVD says that he's kinda shaky right now and trying to fix that. It's still a very nice win.
Anyway, it's the 2nd tournament in a row with Sheik and it seems that Pichu is becoming more and more important for VoiD again, as contradictory as that sounds.

Btw, the top 6 non-invited of Mainstage is guaranteed an invite to Smash Ultimate Summit 2.

That means that Nairo:ultpalutena:, Light:ultfox:, and Marss:ultzss: are guaranteed a spot.
With MkLeo:ultjoker: already being an invite to Summit, there is a chance that whoever gets 7th in this tourney may need to fight eachother for the final spot.

From what I've seen, she only has trouble racking up damage at VERY early percents (i.e. 0~25%), mainly because a lot of her stuff is unsafe on hit at that percentage (for reference, Prodigy kept UAir-ing Sheik out of her strings at low percents).

Honestly, at any other percents, she has no problem racking up 30~40% worth of damage off of stuff like an FAir, a move that has 5 frames of start-up and is only -2 on block.

The set between Prodigy and VoiD gave me more of a feeling that Prodigy was extremely rattled to a point that he was completely passive during games 3 and 4 (how many times did he let VoiD get away with an attack on block?). I mean, his latest post on Twitter speaks for itself on how much he hates Pichu lol.

We do have to remember that when VoiD lost to WaDi, he tried switching to Pichu game 3 and that went even more disastrously than when he was using Sheik.

It’s weird how much you really want Sheik to be bad, when he literally beat PGR players with that same Sheik.

He defeated MVD:ultsnake: and MuteAce:ultpeach: (although VoiD kind of robbed MuteAce right when MuteAce downloaded him) with Sheik, which is a few nice wins on the belt, although you may be right.
MuteAce had a good game, and Void clutched it. Beyond that one game, the implication that MuteAce had a “download” that would have presumable allowed him to reverse 3-0 Void doesn’t have any evidence behind it.

That must be why Void was in the lead nearly the entirety of game 3, in both stocks and percent, right up until Nairo capitalized on a bit of momentum and got a clutch spike.

Void has been able to stay generally toe to toe with top tier characters and PGR players since his last tournament.

Either Void is playing so massively well that he is completely carrying a glorified mid tier into the highest competitive level, or Sheik is actually good. I don’t even play Sheik and it’s obvious which is the correct answer here.
