Magnum Sonic Combo Video

I have finally finished my combo video; Up, Over, and Gone! A little less than 8 minutes long. With that being said I'll let you know what you are in for when you watch this video.

What You Will See:

Video taken straight from my tv via a dazzle device.
All clips taken from matches played in real life NOT WI-FI
Opponents who are at or above my skill level that I have been playing with for at least 5 years.
"Combos" that are at least two hits.
Fast paced, Sonic themed music and not just a random rap song that doesn't relate at all to the video.

What You Will Not See:

A video of myself using Wi-Fi lag to create ungodly, beautiful combos that would never happen in a real time match.
A long, boring video of me using the bair to stage spike opponents who repeatedly put themselves in a position to get caught by it.
Opponents landing in attacks without at least trying to midair dodge or fight back with an attack of their own.
An apology about the horrible video quality that makes viewing the video strenuous rather than enjoyable.
Weird combos resulting from my opponents not reacting at all while I use the homing attack to finish them off.
Opponents getting KO'd due to a mistimed midair dodge that causes them to miss the ledge and fall to their death.

So without any further explanation, here's the link to the video. Enjoy!

You should replace your link with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZg7WL5UB1s&fmt=18 because it directs them to the high quality version. :)

Will post more comments later.
DANNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGG, 2:21 is tooo sexy.
Oh, also love your grounded spring trap kills
And the combo starting at 3:51. :)

Good point, about the high quality version, I edited that. Thanks for the nice comments, glad you liked it.

Music was okay I guess...maybe we're all just too used to having the music that you heard in the games.

Though I really like this video, is showed lots of Spring gimp/offstage kills/edgehogs...as well at that Usmash spike on Fox, that was priceless.

All the stuff that has already been mentioned is awesome, but I also particularly like 5:23. Dair hit>autocancel>Spring Uair is too good.

thanks for the comment,
im not sure what you mean about 0:19, I just bair'd. unless your referring to the trajectory that zero-suit was sent after the up smash. it was because she smashed into the uper part of the fin of the great fox and it acted as a wall and a ceiling at the same time due to its shape, kinda like a stage spike on final destination only more horizontal.

6:10, the spin attack hits the fox up and behin dedede, then i use the homing attack, the homing attack hits dedede, then dedede goes flying over and hits fox hard enough to send both of them off screen.

also, i totally wanna name the spring trap the Magnum Combo even though I know its totally lame to name a move after yourself and it would probably never catch on. lol.

And anthinus has been using it since forever as well XD.

You're awesome with it, but its simply the spring trap =P
I had only seen anyone do it with the forward b off of the ground and I found that its actually not 100% reliable, because before the spring hits, an opponent can roll and escape the lock entirely. Mine, if done correctly, I believe may be full proof. I haven't conducted enough experiments with it to be sure and I'm still not 100% perfect with it yet, but I have found that the angle of the asc, when holding forward to get both hits, allows you to knock the opponent at a somewhat different angle that allows, with very very precise timing, for the spring to hit them and for sonic to reach the ground without any opportunity for escape at all. An added benefit is that regardless of whether you are able to time it perfect enough to get the jab lock, the asc can deal more damage. Also, I believe that this can be an effective ledge guarding maneuver to possibly achieve kills at lower percents, unfortunately I grew impatient of trying to get a video of myself doing it in a real match. Theoretically, one would simply jump off the side, asc, and then footstool, and then angle yourself toward the stage a small bit and drop the spring.

Woahh my bad dude, that sounds really cool. I had for some reason assumed that by spring traps you meant when you timed your grounded springs perfectly so your opponents would land on them, be bounced up, and u cud star KO them with an aerial.

lol whoops. Actually, i think that was MY bad. i had assumed that the spring trap that had been referred to was the jablock thing. I think I must have had the wrong name for the move. I think you're right. So I gave that long explanation of my trick for nothing lol. Can someone tell me if thats right? Is the spring trap the grounded springs or the jablock thing?

spring trap is usually the grounded spring.

Ophelia actually was the first person to post the side-B > footstool > jablock thing.

I like how you started the jablock with a reverse jab and quickly fixed it lmao

Absolutely LOVE the music.

I was wondering whenever a Sonic Combo Video would surface that used either the Sega megamix (I love the Streets of Rage part, Axel's "aaaaAAAH" is too funny, brings back memories), or They Call Me Sonic.

You used both. You deserve TWO steaks.

-----

I loved the little tricks you pulled during the matches, however, I'm concerned with the opponents more than anything. You seemed to play many characters, but I continuously saw the same four names popping up in the videos. It doesn't question your abilities as a Sonic main, the video was awesome to watch, but the fact that you were only really showing footage of the same people kinda disturbed me a little.

That, and there was not a single ounce of Meta Knight, Snake, or Game and Watch ownage, so I was a little bummed...

Oh well.

Nice video overall. This is going into the Winning Steak Cinemas.

Well, the 4 people thing goes two ways. That means they know how to fight against Sonic, too lol.

There actually was a GAW part. It was hilarious. Magnum started to do a D-air, and GAW tried to U-air from the side, and it pushed Sonic upwards into GAW and did a star KO lol.

Yeah, I forgot about that. That was pretty cool.

True that it goes both ways, but the fact of the matter is that it's only 4 people (or around that number). There is more diversity when you play and showcase against multiple strategies and characters and players.

It just irks me. It's still a good video, but it seems awkward when it's simply a chunk of videos with consistent players.

I really wanted to get some Metaknight, Snake, top tier, etc. ownage, but none of my crew mates plays as any of those characters. Outside of my crew, none of my other friends plays them either. I did have one semi nice meta clip, but I took it out because it was a spring causing a stage spike due to the Nix not having the metanight experience to use the glide for recovery and waiting to long to use the shuttle loop. Revenant recently decided to be a falco main , but I don't have much footage of it yet and I'm at college and he's not here to play against. The Jort plays a little bit of snake, but he's really unconventional and lacks the experience a snake main would have.

I do have another crew member, but he moved to Texas and I only have Wi-Fi footage of him, he's a wolf main. There's not too many really good smash players in the Columbia, MO area and it's hard for me to get to St. Louis so I don't get to play anyone there. So I had to rely on the fact that since I play them so often that they have so much experience against Sonic.

I don't remember how I got the music, so I can't give a link to it. The first song is "Super Sonic Dance Attack" and I used a program to speed up the tempo and the second song is "They Call Me Sonic." My college blocks limewire and other torrents, but I can post them on esnips.com or I can send them to you through aim, msn, or yahoo.

The D-throw to upsmash spike was too sexy.

lol You're the first person I've seen (other than me) to use SDJ to Dair on Fox. <3

I thought that was a spinshot?

EDIT: Nevermind, you meant the edgeguard, not the dair spike...

People should use SDJ to edgeguard more =P
Agreed. It is TOO good. Especially on walkoff stages. Delfino for example. I like to carry them a bit and Dair. If it semispikes they die. If it doesn't they're still flying and you're in a good spot.

Offstage is good too. If you wait till you carry them a bit and then Homing Attack it's hilarious.
