I've only done it once and it was about 5-7 years ago. It was so strange. I wish I could remember 100% what I had done in it.

The only thing I recall was that there was a witch on a broom and she ordered 3 ninjas on skateboards to attack me. I remember running through my neighborhood and after running down 3 streets I thought "Enough of this!" From then on I actually controlled my dream by fighting the ninjas off, but I don't remember how I did it. I also did other things in that dream I don't recall, but I remember waking up and thinking about how awsome it was. I never knew it was a lucid dream until I learned about the concept a year or two later.

It was something different and I would like to do it again. I do feel forces quite a bit in my sleep, such as running in place, floating up in the sky, and falling. I wonder if this has anything to do with lucid dreaming, however I can't control the dream when I feel these things.

Lol, I just looked through my post archive and saw that I made a post about strange dreams I had exactly one year ago today. I didn't mention anything about lucid dreaming though.

My dream journal's actually going pretty well! I have three dreams recorded so far after two nights.

I'm actually "excited" to go to sleep now, hahaha.

Interesting, and probably coincidental, but Robert Waggoner (from the book on Amazon I posted) gave a dream telepathy task, so my wife and I tried it. I told her to think of something while going to sleep, and I would figure it out in a dream. I recalled no dreams, but I woke up thinking moon. She focused on a picture of a Ferris Wheel in Pripyat, which is in black and white. In Waggoner's book, when someone tried to send him a hot air balloon with a triangular patch, he saw a bald head with a triangular eye. The moon in muly mind was the same shape and color.

Like I said, probably a coincidence, but we want to test this more.
:awesome:

I hold absolutely zero belief in such phenomena, but that's kinda cool. It's always fascinated me.

saw this on the front page and was immediately caught.

I only ever had a few occasions of lucid dreaming but it's certainly something that interests me, you have any reading material on this CK, besides the logbook?

I make zero assumptions here. I am just recording our attempt. My wife really didn't see the gravity in me having a dream of an object with a similar shape and color. That's extremely coincidental. We'll keep doing this experiment for the next week or so at the least. I do not subscribe to any paranormal belief system, so waking up to that was a bit of a shock.

I linked to two books: one by Robert Waggoner and one by Stephen LaBerge with his class too. Other than these, I'd recommend reading on Dream Yoga or anything by Ed Kellog (if he wrote any books).

That's awsome your able to recall your dreams.

I'm tempted to keeping a journal. Even if I don't lucid dream I want to get a better idea of what I dream about. I can remember a dream for about a good few minutes, but then poof I forget all about it unless it was something really out of the ordinary or cool.

That's why you write them down the second you wake up. You'd be shocked how fast you lose details.

Two semi-lucid dreams last night. The first was a nightmare that I managed to turn lucid because I was fighting my doppleganger. I can't remember the second one, but I did write it down when I woke up in the middle of the night. I need to study my journal and see how many details are looking for future LDing.

Well, thaks for telling me to look up signs of delusions! Because of that, I figured out that I meet criterion A for schizophrenia. :urg:

I'll probably end up going to a psychologist eventually to find out what exactly is up.

Anyway, I actually keep forgetting to do a journal, haha.

Once again, there is no problem with sleep paralysis. You go into SP because if you did not, you'd thrash in your sleep while you dream, like dogs and cats do. This is simply a preventative method. In fact, for WILDing, the most conscious form of Lucid Dreaming, you need to be conscious throughout all of SP.

That all said, SP is a terrifying thing if you don't know what to expect. First, you will feel like your body is shaking. Secondly, you'll hear audio hallucinations. Third, you will feel like you are being sat on (all these actually explain away stories of possession).
Heh yeah the problem is that it's freaking scary.

- The shaking is part of the bodies method of shutting down your system. Right before experiencing that, you will have the insatiable urge to move. If you ignore this, you will enter SP.
- Hypnogogia is a mental state where you are between consciousness and sleep. During this, you will see images that are really cool. I once soft dolphins being poured out of a coffee pot, which looked neat. There are also audio hallucinations. These will scare you, but they are your body's final check to make sure you are sleeping. My last experience had the phone ringing. I ignored this figuring that since my wife didn't move, it was a hallucination. Then, as I am falling into the sleep phase, I hear a voice whisper my name. The voice wasn't my wife's. Fighting every urge to scream and wake up, I kept going until I got into a very vivid lucid dream, but I was unable to move (more on this late). Some people have reported a terrific roaring sound, and others have heard unearthly screaming. Just mentally prepare yourself for it.
- The melting into the bed/pressure is something I haven't felt lucidly. I can remember kind of feeling it, but it may have been my losing consciousness. This is supposed to feel quite strange.
Also are you sure you should be going into Sleep Paralysis while going to sleep? I can understand waking up into it, but your body is only supposed to be paralyzed in REM sleep (so you don't act out your dreams). In NREM sleep your body should be able to move, and the first few stages of sleep are supposed to be NREM. If you're going directly into REM then you either are extremely sleep deprived or possibly narcoleptic.

That's why WBTB works for WILD, you interupt the sleep pattern to go straight into REM sleep. It is really hard to enter sleep paralysis, and thus WILD, without getting a full night sleep first hand. Experiencing sleep paralysis is normal though.

I haven't had any lucid dreams yet, but I've been recalling a lot of dreams in detail the past two days. As far as I can tell I've had 5 dreams I can remember vividly in the past 2 nights. I hope I'm getting closer. I do recall quite a bit of unreal things that wouldn't happen in reality, but they seem so real I can't snap out of the dream or come to the reality these things are fake until after I wake up.

Some include:

A mall in my area that's literally dead. There are only 5 stores that exist. In my dream the mall was thriving with people and had numerous store open for business. There was also a cop car patroling around the inside of an Elder Beerman department store.

Riding an electric/car/bike underneath a road located underneath a bridge. There was water in the form of waterfalls leaking underneath the bridge onto the road below. My electric/bike/car thing still worked after going under these. Not only this, but I jumped gaps in the road like I was jumping a ramp. It was strange. I even felt the force of jumping the gaps and feeling airtime. I only jumped 3 of these and made all 3 jumps.

I may have a problem with my lucid dreams. Whenever I'm aware I'm in a dream, I tend to make myself indestructible with the powers comparable to The Incredible Hulk (with flight), and go on a destructive rampage. This is every time I lucid dream. Granted, I don't LD often, but when I do... well, I've already stated what happens. Anyone can tell me what this means (assuming dreams even have meanings)?

You are doing it consciously, so nothing is wrong there. Next time, ask the dream to show you something profound.

I'm so glad I found this thread, I've been lucid dreaming at around age 5 as a coping mechanism for my night terrors. I noticed that dream journals were mentioned earlier which IMO is the best way to start lucid dreaming. Mostly because it can be difficult to remember dreams and journals train your mind to remember what your dream from the night before.

I'm not sure if this was mentioned before since I didn't read all of the posts but the best way to help a beginner or returning lucid dreaming is to draw a symbol on your palm. I'm not sure if you noticed but whenever you dream you may look at the surroundings to determine if your dreaming which doesn't always work even if you're in a strange place. Whenever you put an easily recognizable symbol on your hand it will appear differently in your dream. When I mean differently it totally garbled and unrecognizable. Your symbol should be something symbolic so that it will make it easier to remember what you actually wrote instead of thinking "Oh yeah I did scribble on my hand." You could try this technique now or after the dream journal phase. The only problem is that when you first start doing it you can expect to scrub out a lot in your dreams. As in you'll look at your hand and think "Hey I'm in a dream" and then immediately wake up.

I did read about your troubles with sleep paralysis and I was just wondering how often it happens. If it freaks you out then you should probably wait until after the dream journal phase.

The best thing about my dreams is that I made this flying machine a few years back, probably when I was about 16 or 17 and still living with my parents. They were gone and I was in my backyard and I used a laser gun to cut down the pine tree in our back yard. I cut it into a block that was probably 1x1x4 by my rough estimations. I stuck some bike handles in it and cast a spell on it. The spell I cast let the wood block fly and whenever someone made fun of it, hated on it, or complimented it it got better. So I took a very slow and leisurely ride through my neighborhood and despite the fact that I was flying, everyone decided to make fun of my flying machine. By the end of the dream it became this pretty awesome flying machine that I can still call to me to this day (7 years later). Only problem now is that whenever I call it it always plays THIS SONG!!!

I had possibly the most hilarious lucid sequence last night, and I discovered a really neat trick for prolonging the dream.

I can't believe I never put 2 and 2 together before but now it seems my new lucid experiences will be better than ever!

Oh and I'll let a bit go about what I did: telekinetic decapitations, throwing little energy darts into people and making them explode, as well my personal favourite, ramming my hand down a woman's top then jiggling her breasts. These are all completely new things I've done during a LD! I have a large repetoire of dream control abilities but haha guess these never came to mind, but they have now. :3

I love experimentation!

Hey I'm not straight! I'm a devout servant of evil!

But tbh it just seemed like such a fun thing to do at the time. I mean come on it's not like I could just ram my hand down some woman's top irl and shakeshakeshake like Marina Liteyears.

But yeah, I really hope I go lucid again soon so I can test out my new theory.

Well I would but sexual harassment is serious business, and I don't think "I'm gay" would get me out of that jam in a court of law. :/

Edit: BEAST CHANGE

Still though, will tell you on AIM about my AWESOME discovery. I think, gotta test it more but it's so simple and really seemed to have an effect.

Took a nap earlier today and went directly into REM sleep (lol sleep deprivation)

Had my most vivid lucid dream ever. In my previous ones I had more control of what was happening, but they were foggier overall, whereas in this one I can actually remember the details. I was in a theater watching a play with one of my friends, when suddenly everyone in the audience started fighting each other. My friend and I were a little ways away from the fighting. I knew that I was dreaming at this point. Then I tried to say "I know that I am dreaming right now" out loud and I instantly woke up.

Well they used to be quite violent back when I was starting to experiment with inducing, because I was trying to learn dream control and the best way to test it out seemed to be to fire lightning and shoot fireballs along with smashing people and objects up with telekinesis.

Somewhat recently it's been a lot different, I've enjoyed observing the landscape my subconscious creates without trying to meddle with it. The last LD I had though I dunno it was just so much fun. Honestly it wasn't like I was all psycho, I was sort of strutting down and just doing these actions with a bit of stylistic flair, I don't really see it as me being violent as much as just playing around with the environment.

I remember calling my spirit guide once and it took the form of Arnold Schwarzenegger interrogating me while threatening to crush my testicles. Buuuut the details of that are a bunch of personal stuff I won't go into, and I don't mean sexual, just personal feelings etc. No I don't have a crush on Arnie silly

Actually, the nap is why you went into REM directly, not sleep deprivation.

Napping actually causes you to go into REM sleep much faster.

It's why scientists say that a supposed nap regimen throughout the day, broken up into 2 hour bits rather than 8 hours a night is technically superior.

It takes a lot of adjusting and honestly isn't very practical but theoretically it's meant to give you the most rest because of the increased level of REM.

But yeah CK was telling the truth about the napping part ha.

Hm, so I don't know what to attribute this too, but I suppose I'll ask it here since it involves sleeping...

Has anyone gone to sleep with something important on their minds? Mainly being something that they need to wake up for in time? For example, a week ago, I went to sleep around 3 am as I had finished studying for a test. I had to wake up at 8, since class was at 9. I actually woke up a few times during the night, because I was AFRAID I might miss my test. I would constantly check my clock, relax, and go back to sleep. When my alarm went off, I was wide awake and ready to roll. In my dreams, I would constantly interrupt myself, saying "Hey, make sure you don't sleep in". So I would wake up, check time, go back to sleep, repeat.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Nah but funnily enough if I tell myself I absolutely have to wake up early the next day before I go to sleep, I will wake up early guaranteed. Of course it doesn't work for things I don't actually care about, but then again an alarm doesn't either so fml.

Also had more lucid funtimes last night. The trigger was me walking on water (over a duck pond haha). I was like "dat aint Jesus". But yeah after that I decided to continue with the blasphemy and splut the water in the duck pond like Moses. Then I was like hmm and I used telekinesis to make a column come up out the water, then I was like cool and moved the entire contents of the pond up in the air to make a big blob of water. Then I shaped it like a guy with a beard and trident (Poseidon guise), then made him crash back down into the pond. :3

The rest involves sex, violence, and a bit of Charlie Sheen.

Okay so that's pretty interesting.

Now try lucid dreaming but do it while listsning to some seriously crazy death metal/screamo
I began with Disturbed but i've found that for some reason i'm really in control while listening to Asking Alexandria or Attack Attack!

If you don't listen to them check out these links for some general info on Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asking_Alexandria
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_Attack!

If any one can tell me other bands to try then go ahead

Oh... this thread is relevant to my interests.

I started practicing lucid dreaming in january this year, then my life became so extremely busy for like, 50 days straight, I couldnt sleep properly (I havent slept in since about mid january - literally waking up < 8.00am every day). I heard remembering dreams is hard, if not impossible when stressed and found this to be the case, so havent since. Ive recently put the dream journal back next to my bed though and remembered 2 this week. I was getting one every day in jan pretty much before having to move etc.

I gotta remember the whole reality check thing... I've been slacking a lot (work johns).

Also, Binaural beats are trippy and I dont even know if they work or im just convincing my mind its working, thus deluding myself into believing it is.

So a quick perusal showed me that a lot of people posting in the PRoom weren't posting when this was around (or at least missed this) so I am bumping it.

I am in the midst of a 90-Day MILD experiment, which I can detail and even include weekly updates if people are interested.
