Most characters are for people who like a certain playstyle. For example, Little Mac is good when he is on the ground, so he is for people who are good at ground games. Link is good at a distance, so he is for people who are good at ranged games, etc.
Lucario is good when you get bodied. So this makes Lucario for people who are good at getting bodied. AKA bad players.

Lucario is strong if you are bad (thus take a lot of damage) but compensates by being weak when you are good (thus take little damage). Lucario is like Trick Room but with skill instead of speed.

One could say that Lucario gets rewarded for living up to a high percentage but good players do not necessarily live up to a high percentage, good players just live. Lucario does not get extra rewards for just staying alive like glass cannons like Mewtwo do, Lucario gets rewarded for getting bodied and then staying alive. So Lucario needs to play bad before he gets the extra power.

Aura is pretty interesting but I think that they overdid it when they made more mechanics for bad players like rage, KO Punch, and later Limit Break. If they keep this up Smash is going to end up like Mario Kart where sometimes the optimal strategy is to play worse and get behind.

Ecks Dee nice meme. It's a game mechanic. Figure out how to kill him efficiently and your problem is gone. Heck maybe they've been baiting you into hitting them just for the boost and you've just been bamboozled. Regardless if you hit them and don't have a plan to ko them then really the person who gave them the advantage was you not the developers.

Tl;dr get good

Having maximum aura is a double-edged sword. You can hit hard, but at the same time, fighters can wipe you out if you're too careless.

Simply put, maximum aura does not guarantee that you're going to turn the tables, as there are many reasons why Lucario is in the middle tier range.

I still feel project m did a better job with it, tying it to his move cancels and providing him with powered up moves to use after it reaches max.

Lucario in general feels wonky, like all his moves feel terrible and extremely punishable at low damage, but at high damages he could score a few lucky hits that ko an opponent

Lucario is actually really bad for bad players because they might die before they get a hefty amount of aura. Having to survive long enough for aura to be devestating is really tough, and having to stay alive at those high percents is even harder. Sure, you can kill pretty easily but if you do something not safe or mess up can get you killed, losing your "advantage" and having to start back up. That being said, you are on your last stock and to kill easily, you have to yet again survive long enough for any results. It's gambling on your skill and survivability.

Who are you talking about? Who has maybe been baiting me? Are you talking about specific Lucario players? I generally have no problem with Lucario so you need to be more specific. Get good for what? Beating the Lucario's that I generally have particular problem with?

You do not have to survive long if you compensate by getting hit a lot. But I guess that Lucario does have a pretty disadvantageous matchup against quick killers in general.

Lucario has some nice options, but his kit is still pretty clunky in the way it works overall. Basically everyone is Lucario in this game thanks to the Rage Mechanic in general. If it wasn't for his Aura Mechanic giving him a boosted type of Rage, he'd probably be Zelda Tier tbh. Except he has, like, 0 sass. So he'd be even worse than Zelda tier. RIP.

This thread had some merit until you decided to mass label anyone who uses him as bad so locked.

If you want to try a topic like this, label it as how Lucario's Aura mechanic rewards losing instead of being bad.
