Most characters are for people who like a certain playstyle. For example, Little Mac is good when he is on the ground, so he is for people who are good at ground games. Link is good at a distance, so he is for people who are good at ranged games, etc.
Lucario is good when you get bodied. So this makes Lucario for people who are good at getting bodied. AKA bad players.
Lucario is strong if you are bad (thus take a lot of damage) but compensates by being weak when you are good (thus take little damage). Lucario is like Trick Room but with skill instead of speed.
One could say that Lucario gets rewarded for living up to a high percentage but good players do not necessarily live up to a high percentage, good players just live. Lucario does not get extra rewards for just staying alive like glass cannons like Mewtwo do, Lucario gets rewarded for getting bodied and then staying alive. So Lucario needs to play bad before he gets the extra power.
Aura is pretty interesting but I think that they overdid it when they made more mechanics for bad players like rage, KO Punch, and later Limit Break. If they keep this up Smash is going to end up like Mario Kart where sometimes the optimal strategy is to play worse and get behind.
