Hey so, I found a local smash scene in green bay, WI which has been super awesome. I've improved a ton, made new friends, play smash like 15 hours a week. I'd really like to play more at home, and while FG is kind of awful, even matches with local players, miles away, are awful. All my matches are awful.

I'm an IT professional and networking specialist. Wii u has a LAN adapter, some cheap 10/100 adapter, but others I've tried (4 different ones) do not improve the issue. The wii U is DMZ'd and manually assigned IP/google DNS. I made sure it's not kicking over to wifi by deleting all other connections besides the wired one.
I'm on a 50/5 connection, and ping/jitter testing is 20ms/1ms jitter, max at far away, 200+ mile servers is still 20-35 ping, 1-8ms jitter. I don't show any packet loss through ookla's awful tests, or my own tests.

Glasnost doesn't have any types of testing for TCP connections, but has never shown any shaping for any other tests.

I am at a loss. I can't think of another way my network could be responsible, but I shut off all network devices besides the wii u, disconnected all switches, devices, etc. Tonight I'm going to try plugging the wii u straight to the modem to rule my network in or out, but I'm hoping someone else might have something to try that I haven't covered here. I'd love to be able to play network play low-latency, but on average it's more than a second, I can clearly hear it when I'm playing online with a mic'd friend on discord.
