Welcome to Smash Boards, also known as Smash World Forums/SWF! If you are unfamiliar with any of the rules here at Smash Boards, I would encourage you to read the Global Rules thoroughly. You will find that any inquiries can be satisfied through the rules, and if not, you are always encouraged to take any questions or complains to Forum Support; there, your query will be answered directly by an Administrator in a completely anonymous setting.
The rules are enforced by an infraction system. If you break a rule, a moderator may give you an infraction or a warning. An infraction is a notification that you broke a rule, and is accompanied by infraction points. In most cases, these infractions will expire after a certain amount of time, depending on the nature and severity of the rule that was broken. A warning is similar to an infraction but does not add any infraction points to your profile. If you receive 6 active infraction points, you will be banned from the forums. Your ban will be lifted once your active infraction point total falls below 6 again. When you are banned from infractions, you will be able to browse the forums and post in Forum Support, but you will not be able to post normally.
The Smash World Forums Moderation staff is chosen by the Administration staff, who have run the site since its inception. Moderators are chosen on the basis of their own well-merited accomplishments here at the forums. Moderators are often chosen for their in-depth knowledge of the boards that they are assigned.
Please note that there is absolutely no reason to suspect that being an Australian will make you a moderator. There is a portion of the Moderation staff that is Australian, but if it seems like more and more Australians work behind-the-scenes or are recently moderated, it is simply a coincidence. There is a large portion of the Moderation staff that is from America, and a growing population that is from Europe. There is absolutely no reason to suspect a connection between Australian moderation positions and the inability for Brawl to make it onto the MLG circuit. Mic_128 has absolutely nothing to do with that.
If that does not satisfy you, please note how friendly the Australian staff here at Smash World Forums actually is. ThunderMistress is beautiful and absolutely interested in what you have to say; Mini Mic is snarky but absolutely lovable and will relate to your problems if you are called "emo" or feel left out. And if you are only newly Australian, you can spend some time getting to know Riciardos, who was once a non-Aussie like you, but has now learned the error of his ways and accepted himself as an Australian.
By coming to Smash World Forums, your love for Smash Bros., whether it be 64, Melee, or Brawl, has helped you reach a wonderful community where you can make friends, find people to play with, learn the wonders of Australia, debate ethics and government, visit the wonderful land of Australia, submit short stories to writing contests or practice Adobe Photoshop, move to Australia, or even pay Australian taxes! But remember, it's important to follow all the rules. If you hear someone talking poorly about wonderful Australia, please report them to the Moderation staff so that they can be re-educated. If you hear rumors about an Australian takeover at Smash World Forums, remember that its absolutely untrue while you throw your new MLG boomerangs! And remember: every time you play Super Smash Bros., think about putting a little money away for Australia.
We hope you enjoy your time here at Smash World Forums.
