doesn't it destroy your framerate? Only 30fps, 25fps on HDTV. at least, that's what logic tells me.

otherwise i'd do all my CPU training in lightning mode.

No. Lightning Melee can be used as a side event at tourneys but not on our neutral background.

Lightning melee sucks yo.

However:
1) go to training mode with a friend and set it to 2X (preferably with AR or hacked version so you can use C-stick)

2) concentrate, narrow your focus and try your best to operate and play in 2X at full speed.

3) Play this way for 30 mins.

4) Go back to normal mode and be amazed at how slow it is (your brain is now operating @ 2X speeds). You now have all the time in the world.

I'm not joking you, if you haven't tried 2X training check it out, its crazy.

What are the technical details of Lightning Melee? That is, what is the speed multiplier, and is it implemented the same way as sped-up training mode, or are there some important differences?

Yea lightning is 1.5x homie, 2X is the real deal. Play 2X in training for 30 minutes vs a friend, believe me its nuts when you go back to regular mode. You're literally waiting on animations to finish.

Melee is such a deep game that I doubt we will ever need to use lightning mode. I think that the game's popularity will die long before the metagame gets to the point where regular speeds aren't good enough.

Regardless, we would need to undergo some serious artificial selection before we are capable of performing at such breakneck speeds.

Actually, Lightning Melee is a bit slower than 1.5 X normal speed.

Go in training mode, take Fox and try doing consistent Shffled Nair-shines (it's almost impossible to L-cancel the Nair)

Then go in lightning Melee, and try to do the same, it's much easier.

Hey there Chab! Not sure we met before, did you go to any Montreal weeklies?

And no, I don't think it's a good idea to practice in Lightning Melee. It's just fun to mess around and try to do the same technical stuff you can pull off in regular speed when playing Lightning.

Then when you get back to regular speed, it feels like slow-motion mode for about 2-3 minutes, that's funny.

There will be many better players than me at Polybash, I'm not even sure to place top 10 there to be honest. But I guess I could still answer your questions.

But, why the 3 years bump? O_o

haha the 3 years bump is cause some guy told me to start practicing in lightning melee for at least a week. (trying to shffl and stuff) I was skeptical so I wanted to ask someone I knew was very good at the game. (been watching some of ur melee weeklies matches.) No i havent been to any mtl weeklies but this summer im gonna try to go as often as I can. (im from sherbrooke and work etc.)

dont tell yourself that i'm sure you can place top 10 for sure.

So if not lightening melee just keep practicing in normal speed but make sure to refine everything to 100%?

Yeah stick to regular speed Melee, and work on doing everything frame perfect.

And making top 10 at Polybash will be really really tough for me, it's a pretty stacked local (with some international attendance) to be honest.

With M2K, Kirbykaze, Weon-X, Vwins, Bam, Kage, PKM, Diakonos and Jethrotex are examples of players that will beat me 100% sure, and that makes already 9 lol

well losing isn't always a bad thing . i wanna money match m2k and record the game and watch it over and over. even though it might not help that much I wanna see where I'm exposed the most.

and dawg . im sure you can win atleast 1 set vs any of those players. (thats what I would go for if I was at your level)

Is funny because here in Peru, the first "top players" watched some videos (mostly the DBR combo videos) and they couldn't believe how fast their characters moved that they thought they were playing on lightning mode and so they started playing in lightning as if that was the mode everybody else was playing internationally.

The meta is probably different, and the fact that DI becomes a bit harder due to the speed it makes some stupid / ******** combos happen.
