So I guess I'll post this here.

I've been working on puzzling out a LEGO Super Smash Bros game. A typical LEGO game but with Super Smash Bros characters. I'll post the characters at the bottom after all the rest of the info.

This game would re-use the multiple Hub Worlds mechanic from LEGO Dimensions. Each of the main Nintendo Smash Franchises getting their own explorable hub. Each hub world will have missions, boss battles, and restorations you can pay for. Typical LEGO stuff. Each world will also have a "Third Party Build" in it. These are similar to the Pixar Family Builds from LEGO The Incredibles. Upon obtaining enough gold bricks, you use them at a special panel in each hub world and it will build a LEGO Model for one of the many third party franchises. Each Unlocks a character and some small challenge based off of that game. Sonic gives you a race, Mega Man gives you a boss rush, etc. The story levels will be your typical LEGO affair. Like Dimensions each one will have a different Minikit style based on each franchise, but like LEGO DC Super-Villains there will only be 5 to find instead of 10. Instead of character tokens you unlock new characters by discovering their hidden Trophy. And the equivalent of "True Hero" in this game will be "Pro Player" or "Super Player".

The story will be rather simple, but hopefully opens the doors for a lot of fun. After Mario and DK team up to stop a joint alliance of Bowser, K. Rool, and Wario; the three are approached by Tabuu who suggests adding to their alliance with villains from other worlds so that they can conquer multiple realities and overwhelm the heroes. Secretly, Tabuu plans to betray the villains to his masters, Galeem and Dharkon. The worlds are linked and mixed up and Mario and DK team up with Link to travel the multiverse and stop the forces of evil from destroying them and breaking them down into their base so they can be rebuilt. Each level will be themed around one Nintendo franchise invading another. For example the Pikmin level will be overrun with Metroid villains, Ganondorf is attacking Animal Crossing village, etc, etc, etc. I havn't really come up with a lot of scenarios for the campaign and would very much welcome suggestions.

The game will also feature a DLC Pass containing eight new levels which come with 6 characters each based on a franchise (or multiple franchises) not found in the base game. It will also come with 6 character packs to give more representation to certain franchises or characters who have only been Assist Trophies or Spirits in the Past (this Assist Trophy pack will be ready at launch and be marketed as a Pre-Order Bonus. They do this with ALL their games).

Now here is the list of characters. Both base game and DLC.

I like what i read overall.

Maybe it could have less third party picks, but the roster is solid, and i would expect it that way in an official release.

So what abilities would all these guys have, it’s alright if you don’t know them all right now, I honestly wouldn’t blame you.
LEGO has a pretty consistant pool of abilities that are found across all of their games. Fire, Ice, lightning, Grapple, Detective Mode, Digging, Follow Trails, Grow Plants, Target, Laser Beam (Destroy Gold Bricks), Explosives (Destroy Silver Bricks), vent access, shrinking, flying, super speed, etc. etc. It's just a matter of going down the list and assigning them to the appropriate characters. Thanks to Ghostbusters we even have an outline for Luigi's Poltergust. I might do that, but I'll have to devote a day to it. A few new ones could be added, a Power-Up ability for characters like Mario and Kirby, a Tri-Force interaction switch for the Links, Zeldas and Ganons, etc.

New Idea. Maybe a retooled version of Dimensions's arena battles that are more combat focused rather than objective based.

At least let me help you with Shantae:

I drew this back in 2015 back when Dimensions was still a thing, I didn’t think she’d have a chance but it was still fun to think about regardless.

Half-Genie: Target (Fireball), Electricity (Storm Puff), Mini-Access,

Transformation Dance:
Monkey: Wall Climb, Mini-Access, Vine Cut,
Elephant: Cracked LEGO Walls, Drill
Spider: Grapple, Wall/Web Climb
Harpy: Flight, Target (Feathers)
Mermaid: Dive, Target & Cracked LEGO Walls (Bubble)
Crab: Dive, Vine Cut, Mini-Access
Bat: Flight, Illumination,
Mouse: Drone Maze

Clicked thread expecting theoretical actual Lego sets based on the Super Smash Bros, but this is alright, too--

hold up.
