I do not wish to go to my high school graduation due to personal reasons. I have 2 main tools at my disposal for getting away with absolutely no retaliation on my school boards part; 1: i owe money for a calculator, and i will continue to ignore this until they tell me i cant walk, if this does not happen however i will call their bluff on "sending a letter to the state because i did not go to the mandatory practices, achievement night, and of course graduation itself. I will call the bluff because of one simple thing i caught onto, if the "letter sent to the state" was of any importance to me getting my diploma (which he said i would get a couple days later if i where to skip), then i wouldn't get the diploma before he "sent the letter". The second tool i have at my disposal is that today during our first practice, the principal lead the entire body of seniors in prayer, to jesus christ mind you. He said we do not have to pray if we don't want to, but because we where FORCED to remain in the room, while he said the prayer on the microphone i feel insulted, that is the same as standing up and telling everyone that god is not real. Because the school is a state run organization i believe that this act would violate the separation of church and state Claus we all hear about at some point; by not just letting the group pray at will he specifically prayed to a popular deity, this would be him supporting 1 religion over the rest, which i feel is a violation, as well as offensive. I have not researched this matter, that's what i am doing this for. any help will be appreciated.

UMMMMMMMMMM..... pay for the calculator and just go to your graduation ceremony. You have a very frustrating and confusing life ahead of you if you think this constitutes a legal problem. on a less acerbic note, if the whole "religions offends me" thing isn't a facetious way to get out of your ceremony (what are the personal reasons anyways?) and you actually feel offended by this, ask your counselor for advice.

no i dont think this is a legal problem, i do not want to go (the reason is irrelevant). IF they dont want to give me my diploma THEN we have a legal problem, and yes i would consider me not getting my diploma a legal problem.

As long as you are in debt to your school, they can hold your diploma indefinitely. Just pay up.

Then just don't go?
They have to give you your diploma if you have completed all the school work. I know of kids who have not gone to the official graduation due to vacations, etc.
Graduation is just a formal ceremony, really. As long as you pass, you should be able to get your diploma.
