She's way better then snake.
And why is that?

-She's a crappy video game character.
-Her games weren't very good.
-Her movie sucked hardcore.
-The only thing she has going for her is her figure, which is the only reason there are TR fanboys.
-No one says one of thier favorite games is Tomb Raider, unless he's 35+ and like to stalk little girls at the mall.

-Snake and his games are great.
-He didn't make any horrendous movies.
-His character was actually worked on enough to give him a persona.
-People still believe the MGS games to be some of the best games of all time.

No.

never.

Just no.

Her games really aren't all that groundbreaking. She's never had an exclusive Nintendo game. And I don't know how you can imagine her without her toting two pistols.

And whoever think she's better than Solid Snake.

well...

you're silly.

You are basing this on a simple opinion: Yours. And saying something like "she sucks" dosent prove any point.
I can just respon your way saying everyhting you said opposite, though hopefully I can manage to not.

Tomb Raider.
______________
-He is a great video game character and she is a role model to thousands, perhaps milliosn.
-Her games are so good that after 11 years they still sell millions of copies world wide.
-Funny thing a 2 bad movies became a succsess though..
-She is perhaps a sex bomb, but if you actually tried to use your mind you could perhaps play the game and try to solve a puzzle. If fanboys only wanted her body, they could watch pics of her instead of playing the whole game.
-Tomb Raider is my FAVORITE franchise ever, and im a 15 year old boy.
__
Snake:
________________
-Snake is a crappy clichèd character.
-He didnt make ANY movies. Period.
-His character is nothing more then any other. (and do you honestly think Lara has no 'character' behind, you must really be missing much here.
-Same can be said with Tomb Raider.

Good god, was that easy to reply to.

Until i saw this i was gonna bombard you with facts that proved my points right and facts that proved that TR sucks, but I decided to let it go.

You'll understand when you're older.

[EDIT] That wasn't fair. You deserve to be proved wrong as much as older people do...

Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid was a commercial success, shipping over 6 million copies worldwide. Upon release, it was one of the most rented games, and topped sales charts in the United Kingdom. The game was generally well-received by the media, and was given high scores by some of the most prominent gaming critics. Gaming website IGN awarded the "incredible" rating of 9.8/10, and the GamePro website gave it a score of 5/5 in the site's retro feature. GameSpot granted a lower rating of 8.5/10, calling it "revolutionary" but criticizing its short length and low difficulty. It received an Excellence Award for Interactive Art at the 1998 Japan Media Arts Festival.

Electronic Gaming Monthly awarded Metal Gear Solid the unprecedented Platinum Award (four perfect scores of 10). IGN editors ranked Metal Gear Solid as the best PlayStation game ever, and gave it the "Best Ending" and "Best Villain" awards.

Metal Gear Solid has appeared in many "best games of all time" lists. In September 2004, PSM ranked it #1 on its "Final Playstation Top 10" list in honor of the Sony PlayStation selling 100 million units. ref In 2005, IGN editors placed it 19th out of the "Top 100 Games", while the readers voted it to 9th place. Members of GameFAQs ranked it the 8th best, and readers of Japanese magazine Famitsu ranked it 50th in a 2006 poll. It also placed 23rd in Entertainment Weekly's list, and 17th in both Electronic Gaming Monthly's and Game Informer's lists. In 2005, GamePro ranked Metal Gear Solid first in their list of "10 Modern Classics Every Gamer Should Own."

Tomb Raider
Upon its release in 1996, Tomb Raider was widely praised by gaming magazines for its revolutionary graphics, inventive gameplay, and involving storyline. The level of sophistication Tomb Raider reached by combining state-of-the-art graphics, an atmospheric soundtrack, and a cinematic approach to gameplay was at the time unprecedented. The resulting sales were consequential, topping the British charts a record three times, and contributing much to the success of the PlayStation. In the previous year, Eidos Interactive had recorded a nearly $2.6 million in pre-tax loss. The success of the game turned this loss into a $14.5 million profit in only a year.

As one of the top selling games of the PlayStation console, it was one of the first to be released on PlayStation's Platinum series, and its success made Tomb Raider II one of the most anticipated games of 1997. In 1998, Tomb Raider won the Origins Award for Best Action Computer Game of 1997. The Lara Croft character was prominently featured in the popular media outside the realm of video gaming, for instance on the cover of cutting-edge pop culture magazine The Face in June 1997.

Nevertheless, Tomb Raider received some criticism for minor camera and object glitches, as well as its difficult save system. Additionally gamers complained at the lack of action in favor of puzzle solving, although ironically, Tomb Raider II would be criticized for its over abundance of violence, especially against human opponents.

No you were not. You have nothing that proves it except your opinion. People saying things like that are just pathetic.
Lets see if MGS can survive as long as Tomb Raider can.

EDIT: I dont see what makes Solid snake so much better then Lara through that ?

Don't embarrass yourself.

-Metal Gear came out in 1987

-Tomb Raider came out in 1996

Check your facts before you open your mouth and you might look more legit. I'm sure the people in this thread want to talk about their character and know better than to compare it to solid snake.

[EDIT] check how many awards and honors were given to each game.

Ocarina of time is not as good as Super man 64.

You see? Your not actually arguing your points your just saying stuff like "Its opinions not fact!" that doesn't prove that TR is good... unless you want me to go to game rankings... because i'll do it you know.

From the information I've gathered (this may not be correct) the MGS franchise has together sold over 20 million copies, while Tomb Raider has sold over 30 million copies. I slight different here perhaps?

As I've said, Im not sure how relyable this source are, but:

MGS: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117959052.html?categoryid=13&cs=1
TR: http://youtube.com/watch?v=mj9kKb0Xkgk
To quote what she says: "...With 10 years, 15 billion dollars and 30 million games under her belt..."
I just looked at the MGS one and that's the reported estimate sold for just that one title under the Metal Gear fanchise. The Tomb Raider one is for the entire franchise ever.

So TR franchise beat out a game in the MG franchise.

Ill give in. Though it seemed un-realistic for one game, but.. You win.

MGS has had 4 games and MG has had 2 games.

TR has had 11 main games.

MGS is regarded highly in the video game community and is a legendary game series.

TR is know by non gamers and (As with a lot of PS1 franchises) gamers don't care about it much now a days.

These are just some random FACTS.

And also TR franchise = 32 Million, MGS franchise = 20 Million.

Nobody can deny Lara Croft's popularity. That's all well and dandy. But the gaming community as a whole stops whatever the hell they're doing when a new Metal Gear game is announced. Sure Tomb Raider is more mainstream, or was. But the mainstream probably knows her because of Angelina Jolie, not because she's a videogame character. And yes she's going to make more money, they spit out a new game every year. Madden makes a buttload of money and its the same game every year, but we won't see John Madden commentating for Smash Brothers anytime soon (though that would be hilarious.)

As much as you love Lara, and while it does boggle my mind that anyone could think her games are better than Metal Gear Solid's, whatever, that's opinion. We all have one. But I simply don't see any way for her to be in the game. Snake's in because, I'm sorry, he's a bigger deal in the gaming community. And his creator and the creator of the smash bros games are good buddies, I don't think anyone at Eidos has those connections. And again, I don't see Lara without her toting two pistols.

Wow. I'm gone a day any this goes up by 3 pages.

Nevertheless, I still stand on my point about her being simular to Snake. I mean:

She's Female(which ssb lacks in)
She's a natural fighter.(Peach isn't)
She is just as popular to some ppl as MGS is to others.

In conclusion, I'm not saying who's better than the other - did I? Nope.

A third party character isn't going to get in because they are female.

She is a natural fighter? so what Mario's a plumber and Falcon is a racer!

She is popular to non gamers and such... doesn't mean her games are good or she is respected at all its just that people know her.

Now you see Sonic, MGS, Geno became popular because they starred in amazing games and such while Lara is famous because she has big breasts starred in one great PS1 game (But still nothing as amazing as the others) and has had a few films.

Well, I can't really disagree there, but Tomb Raider is different, because she dosent run around in her bikini so small or fighting other girls while giggeling while dancing around a pole. :p

So you don't want Olimar but you want Lara?... god... and your our leader!?

And if you think a games sales is based on how "Good" or "Bad" it is you seriously need to do your ****ing research.
