Are you interested in who the top dog of character requests is? I was in July, so I took it upon myself to count Supports in the Threads.

This thread is a ranking of all characters with Support Threads, from highest to lowest; as of August 13th 2018 (August 12th American Time). While I did the count by myself the first time, I actually had help from some very helpful individuals this time, who will be noted in a Special Thanks section.

Again: This list is accurate as of August 12th 2018.
Some threads use older Support Counts (i.e. going as far back as Smash 4 or even Brawl) than others, which inflates their score slightly.
This list only contains characters who have yet to be confirmed; however, it does contain characters who are Disconfirmed, marked in Red, characters who might be disconfirmed, appearing as cosmetic background elements are marked in Blue.
Support Counts are collected by counting OP likes and posts that either contain "I support" or otherwise positive reception to the character ("I want this character" etc).

With all that said, I will get right on with the list.

You're trying to tell me that Sylux is one of the most supported characters when his support thread is only 2 pages long?

The Geno supporter list, for example, was created after the E3 Even and I only added people that specifically asked to be on it. I didn't include anyone from previous support threads.

If I had, like the Sylux one for example, it would be a lot larger

See for yourself. Some of it might be carry over from previous threads or something. It is kinda funny.

What did you determine this by?
I determined this by going to each Character Support thread and checking their Supporter's List.

If they didn't have a supporter's list (or if I wanted to double check), I actively counted them myself (Bandana Dee, Rex & Pyra, Sora, Crash, Rayman, Shadow, Agumon, Tails, pretty much everyone below the threshold of about 20 or so supporters).

And I see those 76 people are REALLY supportive of their character. Since it has more supporters than it has posts
Lots of supporters, not much discussion. XD

The problem is the data your basing it on isn't accurate, especially if it's coming from different sources and different ways of counting.

Manually counting, exclusivity, using prior supporters in a new thread. It's all being based on different ways of determining a value

If you manually counted the people that supported Sylux in that thread the number would be completely different, for example.

Well, yes, but I'm only one man. I'm not going to spend more than a few days on this.

Also, there's nothing wrong with pulling over old supporters, because they're not exactly going to stop now are they? I could have checked all the old threads too, but that would have doubled my workload.

But that's not what I did. So the data comparing their thread to mine is completely innacurate

I didn't even keep a supporter list until recently.

Neither did I. I just started recording it three days ago, as I stated. And a couple of characters can and will have gained more supporters since I started. This is why I said I don't really plan to keep it updated, because if I do, it'll never end until the DLC cycle of Ultimate does, and I don't want to spend, like, three years on this thing. I was already dreading personally counting Bandana Dee's 50-page support thread three days into compiling the list. The supporters could (and probably will) increase exponentially by the end of the game's life.

You don't get my point

You used different methods to determine each value than compared each of the results as if they were the same. Then placed them in rankings as if they were the same.

That's like if someone was like "How many people are you with"? To two different individuals, both in a packed room. One person saying 1 because that's the person he came with while the other person said 50 because he counted everyone in the room. Then ranked them on that.

Unless the data is determined the same way for all sources it's inaccurate. And should not be presented in the way you presented it

I forgot to bring that up, sorry. I only used the old Smash 4 supporter's lists if the new threads did, otherwise I used the new supporter's lists or counted them myself, sometimes both (if this makes the list inaccurate, so be it). I had to use K. Rool's old supporters, because the new list doesn't exist, and I'm not sitting for a day sifting through more than 100 pages to find out how many people are supporting K. Rool. It's not happening.

Get off his ass. He already did way more work than anyone should have expected him to. It's not his fault if your character isn't where you think it should be.

No, it's a logical fallacy.

Great work compiling that list! My most wanted is Joint 80th (Sable) which isn’t bad, I guess, for a character from a Japan-only Game Boy RPG.

Also, they actually had to close the Waluigi thread? Jesus Christ.

If you’re scared about the bad PR that comes from the Sylux thread having more supporters than yours, relax, I can assure you nobody cares.

Otherwise, you’re being really adamant about consistency for a thing that one person did in their free time just for kicks. Just act like this thread doesn’t exist if it really irks you that much.

Edit:

Alright guys, this thread doesn’t matter, let’s close up shop. KMDP KMDP Sorry man, but let this be a lesson on how to do productive things on online gaming forums.

How do you not see how the data being determined by different sources makes the entire thing completely inaccurate

How do you not see how the data being determined by different sources makes the entire thing completely inaccurate
On the one hand it’s technically not inaccurate, he used the same method every time, which was to check the list of supporters. The difference between methods actually lies in the keepers of the lists.

On the other hand, sure, the entire thing is inaccurate. So what? Nobody’s making money off this list. This isn’t some big news outlet spreading misinformation. People won’t die because Sylux is higher on the rank than he deserves.

The point is you’re being a **** to someone for no reason whatsoever. If you think you could do this list better, be constructive and do it, or help, or offer advice. If you don’t think you could do it better, then at the very least write this down as a lost cause and walk away.

I was just trying to point out how it was inaccurate and he didn't seem to acknowledge the fallacy he made.

If people are going to attack me for that, I'll attack back.

Edit: Sylux was an example. I don't care about Sylux. How is that not clear?

You're acting like I'm a professional statistician (which I'm not) and should be held to the standards of one,

About Sylux, I didn't deliberately bump him up the ranks because I like him; I've never played a single Metroid game and have no personal connection to any of the characters other than Samus.

I was done. I just wanted to convey the logical fallacy you made in a way you could understand.

I wouldn't have even made another post if that DarkEdgelord ass didn't bring me back in

Yeah, you can say 'who cares' all you want to rebuff Psycho, but if the list that's being presented in the OP isn't an accurate representation of how the community really feels, what motivation does anyone have to care about this thread? Why create the thread when the list is inconsequential?

Personally I don't have any problems with it and it's kind of neat to see support for the characters whose support threads aren't as active as others, but I do see where Psycho's coming from, and saying that these are Ultimate's 'most supported characters' is a bit misleading.

On a lighter note, Agumon in 25th place is really funny to me.

I can almost guarantee that this list was inaccurate the moment I posted it, because new supporters are cropping up all the time (for example, one new Sora supporter and two new Tails supporters cropped up shortly after the thread went live, bumping Tails up two slots); by the time Smash Ultimate releases in December it will be comically inaccurate. I could have spent a lot more time gathering more data, but then the list would never get posted, for that exact reason. I could change the name of the thread, if you have suggestions (I didn't feel it was a 100% Good thread title anyway).
On a lighter note, Agumon in 25th place is really funny to me.
One can only hope, because Heihachi is way more likely. (Agumon Supporter)

Seems a bit hypocritical for a guy with a giant evil eyeball avatar and illegible blood red font to be calling other people edgelords.

The Western side of Pop Star.
A few days ago, I found myself interested in finding out who was the most supported character on Smashboards. So, I took it upon myself to find out. This is a ranking of (almost) all characters who have a support thread for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This list is accurate to the 15th May 2018, and I probably won't update it (since it was a massive three day undertaking and I have better things to do )
There are 351 Characters with threads, by my count; some may have slipped through the cracks, and some of the support counts may be slightly inaccurate (hey, I'm only human).
The list includes characters presumed disconfirmed, but not characters who are confirmed playable.

All in all, there are 6,635 "I Supports!" counted. I personally counted a large number of them, but I didn't count all of them. People are welcome to count Supporters themselves to correct me, if they take issue with a character's placement.
I'm pleasantly surprised that Goku from Yuyuki ranked as high as he did. I guess people really like the idea of Nintendo's take on Sun Wukong (and possibly troll fans of the other Goku.

Pity about Tiny and Chunky Kong though. They didn't get any support when even Candy did (not that Chunky would want the attention anyway :p).

Edit: Sure enough, even ProfessorFandango champions for Goku: https://www.deviantart.com/professorfandango/art/SMASH-150-169-GOKU-754608576

Wow I didn't expect Andy to be so high up on this list. I mean he has a good number of supporters yes but it's nice to see him place in the Top 15 spot with all the other newcomers.

Yikes, its sad to see Amaterasu so low 220th place? Ouch, but great job on this list I appreciate it.

Number 236 for Brian? Not bad at all~ Albeit, considering my thread is lacking in proper moveset ideas and other stuff, I can see why it doesn't see many replies. It needs updates.

You forgot the ARMS characters, unless a poll doesn't count and it needs to be a dedicated support list.
