Hey guys! I just heard some really surprising news that really got me thinking...:ohwell:

I know that was a really peculiar title for a thread. "Keep Brawl from going the way of Metroid Prime 3? But that was an awesome game!"

True, Corruption was undeniably one of the Wii's best titles this year. But (as I just heard) the sales wouldn't tell you that. As stellar of a game as it was, it failed to reach the majority of the gaming market: casual gamers. This was due to a lack of advertising. (Check Gametrailers.com Bonus Round #4 for my Reference. Or I'll just give the link upon request).

Frankly, I think was a lost opportunity, and I pray this doesn't happen for Brawl. What do you guys think? Will Nintendo lose out on SSBB the way it did on Corruption? What do you think it can do to get this big 2008 title in the minds of casual gamers?

I don't know about you, but I'm going to make a stringent effort to get Brawl's name out there. As of now, it's campaign time!

Surprisingly, I don't think casual gamers would like Metroid Prime 3. That's why they didn't get it. I mean, I'm sure it looks "difficult" to them.

But I thought it was advertised well, I mean, if you had the internet and a Wii already, then you even had a message sent to your Wii about MP3! They had a commercial, also, but I'm not sure if they have advertisements in magazines.

There's probably another reason it didn't do so well... but I doubt it'll affect Brawl in the same way. It's most likely going to get advertised as well as Melee was. That, and most of the peple who bought Melee are going to buy Brawl AND more... unless they are Dylan_Tnga.

The only video game commercial that I can remember seeing is "Jericho" and that game sucks...

I think there is enough smash fans out there that smash will do alot better than metroid in sales.

I very much doubt that Brawl will suffer from a lack of sales. It is a game that appeals to the core gamers as well as the casual gamer market. Not to mention it will have a ton of multiplayer modes. If anything, I feel that the lack of online/one console multiplayer in a lot of the games currently available on the Wii is one of the reasons that the sales are not as good as they should be.

From what i heard nintendo withdrew adverts for the wii and replaced them with adverts for the ds as they knew they could not keep up with demand for consoles this christmas. I have seen game adverts but i think they were only 3rd party releases which nintendo has no control over

Brawl's gonna be the cover story on the next EGM.

That's some heavy, HEAVY advertising.

Don't worry, Brawl will go platinum (1,000,000 copies sold for those not familar with the term) in a matter of weeks. And you can quote me on that. :)

What Nintendo needs to do is make a commercial that isn't the cliche "Wii would like to play" gimmick, and have it longer than 15 seconds, with actual GAMEPLAY, instead of their crappy "happy" actors

KrazyKaiju, I don't think you have to worry. This is easily the most anticipated game for the Nintendo Wii and likely one of the most anticipated games of all time. Melee had an already huge fanbase, selling over 8,000,000 copies. Most of those people will likely be getting Brawl as soon as possible. Also, Brawl had a good showing at the last 2 E3s as well as E for all. Then there's all the gaming magazines and websites which have been covering it for months and will likely continue to do so at a heightened pace next month. And it's getting plenty of advertising at game stores such as GameStop.
I think that the opposite will come true. There won't be enough Brawl to go around. That's MY fear.
