EVO 2015
July 17-19, 2015
Las Vegas, NV

I don't think anyone ever made a thread for EVO 2015 here in tournament listings, so here it is!

The Evolution Championship Series (Evo for short) represents the largest and longest-running fighting game tournaments in the world. This year will mark the third consecutive time that Melee is featured as a main game, and the first time that Smash 4 is featured as a main game.

- LOCATION -

http://evo.shoryuken.com/hotel/

Bally's Las Vegas Hotel and Casino, Main Ballroom
3645 South Las Vegas Boulevard, Las Vegas, NV 89109

Stay inside the venue by booking at the Bally's hotel, or alternatively, the Paris connected in the same building series.

Since the Las Vegas Airport (LAS) is fairly close to the venue, those who fly in are recommended to take a cab.

- ENTRY INFO -

Tekken 7 10.00 USD
Mortal Kombat X 10.00 USD
Guilty Gear Xrd 10.00 USD

$70 venue fee, $10 additional per game. You'll want the Three-Day Pass, Tournament Hall ($70) in order to view Top 8 finals in the main ballroom on Sunday.

UPDATE Feb 24, 2015: Tournament Hall passes for Sunday are sold out. Viewing Hall passes are still available. Register asap!

- SCHEDULE -

http://evo.shoryuken.com/schedule/

Usually posted a few weeks before the tourney. Based on EVO's scheduling history and turnout expectations, all Smashers should expect to arrive no later than 8am Friday if participating in the events, and expect to leave no earlier than 6pm Sunday if spectating Top 8 finals.

According to Mr. Wizard, one of the Smash games, Melee or Smash 4, will have their Top 8 finals on Sunday, while the other will have their Top 8 finals on Saturday. This will most likely be determined by turnout size. Street Fighter and Marvel are likely to take up Sunday evening with their Top 8 finals, so expect the higher-attended Smash game to have its Top 8 finals featured on Sunday afternoon.

I'm going for GG:Xrd, Smash 4, UMvC3, Melee, and USF4.

Does anyone know if there's been any word on controller legality for Smash 4 at Evo? I know Evo normally disallows wireless controllers but I'm wondering if Smash 4 is an exception since that bans literally every controller that doesn't require an extra adapter. I'm finding the Pro Controller to be by far the best option for me but if I can't use it at Evo then it's time to start practicing on a GCN controller again.
edit: victory!

Was looking forward to EVO for a long time now and then saw they were using custom fighters: on because someone randomly tweeted to Mr. Wizard who has never Smash Bro'd and doesn't seen Smash Bros and ok'd it as long as it didn't use this new-fangle device called the internets.

Didn't want to attend, but now decided to attend because I'll just jank it up with the rest of 'em in hopes that Custom Fighters never fully gets used as a standard at any national ever again. I just hope that all the custom camping and jank doesn't leave a bad impression on Sm4sh the way EVO has done in the past dictating that items must be ON.
