I don't know. In terms of countdown, the game was delayed on Oct. 10th, 54 days before the original release. Two weeks ago, the 54 day countdown to release was then. He would've been back on track then. Although, he might give us a new character because of the week hiatus but I wouldn't give my hopes up.

I think this is the smartest prediction here.

I mean seriously, have we ever predicted a character update and been right? Again, Sakurai doesn't really have any reverence for "important" dates and good updates. So I agree, it's likely that it'll be as if the break never occurred.

honestly, i think all these updates are just filler until the game actually releases. after the feb 10 delay, they don't have anything to post from now till then. my guess is they decided before hand what characters they would show and they've already filled that order.

Ah geez... It hasn't even been a day yet and the pointless speculation begins. That's all it is. Just speculation. I could state that January 7th's update would be the revealation of Fruit Loop as an assist trophy, and it could be just as possible as the rest of the other guesses.

I don't think January 7th's update will be a very big deal. And even if it is, I doubt we'll get a character. Maybe the character drought is caused by Sakurai thinking that he's given us enough of the roster.

This thread was bound to come up though. However you could probably just cut and paste the speculations for Christmas/New Years/ Kwanzaa/ whatever else has been going around.

Maybe there will be a better update. Who knows. My guess why he did it is becuase he has run out of updates, and is holding out till the end. If so, some of the updates we'll be getting are the ones we were suppose to get back in Nov. But will the 7th be an amazing update is debatable.

Smashers, Smashers, Smashers. Pitiful Smashers how many times have we been proven wrong about updates corresponding to days. Although this has a better chance of being a WTF update then christmas or December 3rd was, it still is pretty likely that it will be average. Since May, he's been playing us and we have fallen for it. This is his biggest mind game yet possibly. We must stay strong and wait for the game to release... at least in Japan. Then we get the goods. He even said it in the Basic Brawl update.
