Jab to bucket is nothing new, since it's such an obvious follow-up. However, after noticing that it will break a Shiek's buffered shield, I wanted to see how it worked on all the characters.

An important thing to note: Since jab 1 has set knockback, the opponent's percent doesn't matter. However, rage affects all knockback, so G&W's percent does matter. I didn't have the time or patience to test everything with rage, so all data is taken from training mode where rage is not present.

The short version:

When hit by G&W's first jab, characters tend to react in one of two ways, depending primarily on fall speed, but size and weight likely play a factor.
  • Floaties come out of hitstun in the air, and can thus jump away, but holding shield will buffer an airdodge into the ground.
  • Fastfallers hit the ground before coming out of hitstun, so they can shield, but not jump away in time (since a grounded jump is much laggier than a double jump).
General Thoughts on Rage: Rage will increase knockback and consequently hitstun, so when G&W has rage, opponents should start to behave like floatier characters (fastfallers able to jump out, for example) but with smaller escape windows than before. However, all my thoughts on rage are conjecture and may be incorrect.

The Long Version With All the Thrilling Details
Projectile: Fire Breath
Bowser comes out of hitstun on the ground. He cannot escape jab to bucket.
Rage: He might get launched high enough to jump with rage, but he would likely still get hit out of the jump anyway.
Projectile: Flamethrower and Flare Blitz Explosion (must hit a wall or entity)
Charizard comes out of hitstun on the ground. He can powershield or Up-B to escape. (Up-B will still take damage). He cannot spotdodge, roll attack, or anything else.
Rage: Rage will probably invalidate both powershield and fly.
Projectile: Blade Beam, Limit Blade Beam
I forgot to test cloud and I can't until later. I'll fix this. For now, Cloud falls at the same speed as Lucario, so refer to his escape options. For Limit Cloud, see Falco.
Projectile: Corrin Ball
Corrin comes out of hitstun on the ground. They can powershield to escape. Dodges, attacks, counters, and any other options will not work.
Rage: Will likely invalidate powershield, but could enable jump.
Projectile: Palutena's Bow/Silver Bow
Pit comes out of hitstun in the air. He cannot escape jab to bucket, because he gets hit after jumping, and other options do not work.
Rage: Since Pit only barely gets hit by the oil, rage may allow him to jump out.
Projectile: Rocketbarrel Pack Explosion (must hit near G&W, not direct)
No one will ever bucket this twice in a real match. No way.
Projectiles: Can (must explode on its own), Clay Pigeon Shots (Cannot directly hit G&W)
DHD comes out of hitstun in the air. He can jump away safely. No other options work.
Rage: Probably won't change anything.
Projectile: Blaster
Falco comes out of hitstun on the ground. He can powershield or spotdodge to escape. Jab will whiff due to G&W's intangibility, and other options are too slow.
Rage: Will probably invalidate powershield.
Projectile: Blaster
Oh dear.
Fox comes out of hitstun on the ground. He can shield, spotdodge, roll forward, jab, probably even turn round Utilt. The only options that don't work are jump and backroll, which send him into the oil.
Rage: Won't save you. Just play someone else against Fox.
Projectile: Stars from Super Dedede Jump
Don't bucket the stars. Just punish instead.
Projectile: Final Cutter Beam
Kriby comes out of hitstun in the air. His only escape option is jump+airdodge. The airdodge won't come out in time, but a neutral jump puffs up Kirby's hurtbox, causing him to get hit. A jumping aerial may also have the same effect.
Rage: May allow Kirby to escape with a jump.
Projectile: Bombs (Try catching them and Z-dropping them into the bucket for more damage and safety!)
Link comes out of hitstun on the ground. He cannot escape jab to bucket.
Rage: May allow for jumping away.
Projectile: Aura Sphere, Force Palm Beam
Lucario comes out of hitstun in the air. He can jump away from jab to bucket. Other options will not work, but I did forget to test Double Team.
Rage: Likely won't change anything, save for making counter less likely to work.
Projectile: PK Freeze, PK Fire, PK Thunder
Lucas comes out of hitstun on the ground, oddly enough. He can powershield to escape. He cannot spotdodge or anything else.
Rage: Will probably invalidate powershield. Will not enable jumping away, due to the nature of Lucas's double jump.
Projectile: Fireball
Luigi comes out of hitstun in the air. He can jump away safely. Nothing else will work, though I did not test up-B, which would be a terrible option anyway.
Rage: Likely won't change anything.
Mario comes out of hitstun on the ground. He can powershield to escape, but other options will not work.
Rage: Will likely invalidate powershield, may allow jumping.
Projectile: Jab, Nair, Ftilt, Fsmash, Crash Bomber Explosion
Mega Man comes out of hitstun on the ground. He can powershield to escape; no other options will work.
Projectile: Shadow Ball
Mewtwo comes out of hitstun in the air. He cannot escape jab to bucket since his double jump is so slow.
Rage: May give Mewtwo the distance he needs, but he's not anywhere close without rage, so I doubt it.
Projectile: PK Flash, PK Fire, PK Thunder
Ness comes out of hitstun in the air. He cannot escape jab to bucket because his double jump is slow.
Rage: May allow Ness to jump away, since he is close to escape without rage.
Projectile: Autoreticle
Palutena comes out of hitstun on the ground. She can powershield or spotdodge to escape. Other options do not work.
Rage: Will likely render this inescapable.
Projectile: Thunder Jolt, Thunder
Pikachu comes out of hitstun on the ground. He can powershield or spotdodge.
Rage: Will likely render this inescapable.
Projectile: Robo Beam
ROB comes out of hitstun on the ground. He can only powershield.
Rage: Will likely render this inescapable.
Projectile: Thunder, Fire, Wind
Robin comes out of hitstun on the ground. They can only powershield.
Rage: Will likely invalidate powershield but may allow jumping.
Projectile: Hadouken, Shaku (The red one)
Ryu comes out of hitstun on the ground. He can powershield, spotdodge, or True Shoryuken to escape. Furthermore, Shoryu will make you lose your bucket, which no other interrupting move has caused (that I have seen). Ryu may be able to focus attack a weak bucket (3 hits of Shaku) but he cannot focus attack through a 3-Hadouken bucket.
Rage: Will likely invalidate all options except True Shoryu, and may allow for jumping away.
Projectile: Charge Shot, Bombs
Samus comes out of hitstun in the air. She can jump away safely.
Rage: Won't change that. I think.
Projectiles: Burst Grenade, Vanish Initial Explosion
Shiek is an interesting case.
She comes out of hitstun on the ground. If she buffers a shield, the bucket will break it instantly. Timing a powershield is possible but incredibly difficult. She can roll behind G&W safely, but a back roll will kill her. Shiek's spotdodge will come out before the bucket, but she moves backward slightly during the animation, so the oil's second hitbox will clip her after the dodge. This happens even at the closest possible standing range. If a shiek is dashing into G&W and he jabs her, a spotdodge could possibly save her from the bucket. Lastly, she can jab G&W out of the combo, but G&W can hit Shiek with oil between her second jab and rapid jabs, guaranteed.
Rage: Probably allows her to buffer powershield and eliminates rolls. Spotdodge should still not save her.
Projectile: Bombs (Try catching them and Z-dropping them into the bucket for more damage and safety!)
Toon Link comes out of hitstun in the air. He can jump away safely, but other options do not work.
Rage: Probably won't change this.
Projectile: Lloid Rocket (The explosion when it hits a wall or entity, or the end explosion)
Villager comes out of hitstun in the air. He can jump away or use the invincibility frames on Pocket to survive. He cannot actually pocket the oil, which is a disjoint, not a projectile. That would be absurd.
Rage: Won't change jump away but could invalidate Pocket.
Projectile: Sun Salutation, Sun Salutation Charge Windbox
WFT comes out of hitstun on the ground. She can powershield only.
Rage: May invalidate powershield but allow for jumping.
Stars from Yoshi Bomb
How did you manage to bucket this 3 times??? Well, congrats, it won't kill until like 100%
Projectile: Din's Fire
Zelda comes out of hitstun in the air. She can jump away safely.
Rage: Shouldn't change anything.
Projectiles: Dsmash, Paralyzer
ZSS comes out of hitstun on the ground. She can powershield, spotdodge or Flip Kick. Jab will whiff.
Rage: May invalidate powershield and spotdodge.
