Hello!
Welcome to my first Smashboards thread, and my first Newcomer Speculation thread! The first character I’m gonna talk about is Nobunaga Oda!
BEB905A2-8F74-484B-A766-8B9D21659D4E.jpeg

Who is he?
Nobunaga Oda is the titular character from the Nobunaga's Ambition series, by Koei Tecmo, and a recurring character from the Samurai Warriors series, or the Sengoku Musou series, as it's known in Japan, by Koei Tecmo and Omega Force. He's based on the Japanese historical figure, Oda Nobunaga.

What are those series?
Nobunaga's Ambition is a tactical turn-based strategy role-playing war-game video game series, and Samurai Warriors is an action hack and slash video game series, and a spin-off of the Dynasty Warriors series. Both series take place in the Sengoku period of feudal Japan. There’s a crossover series between Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors called Warriors Orochi. There was also a Pokémon x Nobunaga's Ambition crossover for the Nintendo DS called Pokémon Conquest.

What are they about?
In Nobunaga's Ambition, you take on the role of the Oda Clan, or a different clan, and basically, your main objective in that game is to unify and rule all of Japan. In Samurai Warriors, you can take on the roles of many different Japanese historical figures, like Nobunaga himself, who may or may not have participated in these battles. Some of the characters' stories in this series are kinda like alternate history. Some of the outcomes of the battles in their stories are too.

Why Nobunaga?
Not only does Nobunaga have his own video game series, but he's also one of the most well-known characters in the Samurai Warriors series. (In fact, he's one of the most well-known characters in all of Koei Tecmo.) He's portrayed as a major antagonist, and I think he’s in every game in the series.

What would his moveset be?
It would be based on his moveset from the Warriors games. His Final Smash would be True Musou.

What are his chances?
Well...to be honest, I’m not so sure. Probably pretty small, compared to some other Koei Tecmo rep, like Ryu Hayabusa.

What stage would they use?
That, I’m not sure of either. Maybe they could use Incident at Honnoji.

What music would they include?
Like its sister series, Dynasty Warriors, the Samurai Warriors series has many great and memorable songs to choose from. We need music from the Samurai Warriors series, including Spirit of Sanada, the Warriors Orochi series, and the Nobunaga's Ambition series, and maybe some music from Pokémon Conquest. Both originals and new remixes. Here are my picks for Samurai Warriors music:

I'll accept him only if we gewt some sort of Pokemon Conquest representation with it. Maybe an alt, definitely some music.

Count me in on the Oda Clan.

Yeah I think his chances are low (though really high for a Mii Costume), but Nobunaga squaring off with Ganondorf would be sick. If he is in Smash, I'd be curious as to which version of Nobunaga is chosen from Nobunaga's Ambition to Samurai Warriors to maybe even Samurai Cats and how his moveset would reflect from any of the series in question (like if the Nobunaga from NA will play more like his SW counterpart or will have something else instead).

I think he'll most likely play like his SW counterpart, and they might use his design from SW4. BTW Since I described my picks for SW music, which SW songs would you like them to include, whether they be originals or new Smash remixes? Also, In case anybody’s interested, I made a petition for Koei Tecmo and Omega Force to remake Dynasty Warriors 2-5, and to remake Samurai Warriors 1 and 2. Here it is: https://www.change.org/p/koei-tecmo...-one-ps5-xbox-series-x-nintendo-switch-and-pc

I'm a day late on the news, but Samurai Warriors 5 was announced on yesterday's Direct!

Honestly the new and completely different direction they're taking the series right now looks great so far. The new artstyle actually looks pretty cool, and main focus being on the Oda clan really has me wondering if this will be more in line with Spirit of Sanada.

Also sorry for not responding to this in so long. Truth be told, I'm not as familiar with Samurai Warriors' OST as I am with Dynasty Warriors', but I do have a handful of tracks I hope they include.

Kawanakajima
Osaka Castle
City of Flowers
Komaki-Nagakute
Tadakatsu Honda's Theme
Destiny
Petals in the Wind

This game looks great! The music, on the other hand, seems to be missing that techno feel that the whole SW series uses for its music. I mean, don’t get me wrong. The music is great, but it just doesn’t have that...KICK from previous games, if you know what I mean. But, on a side note, they could use Young Nobunaga as one of his alts.

I have debated for a long time whether I would support this.

Reasons I would: He is a very significant Tecmo Koei character appearing in multiple series, he has his own game, I have played a number of Warriors games, there is plenty of potential for an interesting moveset, few characters in Smash Bros make extensive use of the 'darkness' effect (perhaps with enough fighters using 'darkness,' development would have ideas for giving it a practical, as opposed to aesthetic, use in combat), and his gameplay could be intriguingly distinctive in contrast to other sword wielders.

Reasons I would not: He is another sword fighter (swords are somewhat cliché in gaming), Samurai Warriors names him and portrays his story after a historical figure (would that not make him borderline fourth-party?) ... Hmmm... I suppose it is not too bad after all.

Considering all, the reasons outweigh the anti-reasons, so I support. (to clear one psychological hurdle, I shall call him a 'three-and-one-half' party character.)

I feel like with Nobunaga taking the center in Samurai Warriors 5 probably make him more likely to be chosen among the crowds and also more than Yukimura (feel like I always forgot about him), in any case Nobunaga is somewhat the series definitive main protagonist and antagonist at the same time. Also, it's a must that he have to had an alternate costume based on his younger look from SM5 but idk if a difference in personality and power matter much because from what we've seen his attack involved fire more than dark energy which is the power he usually had.

I did not know that about him having a greater elemental affiliation for fire. For all that I speak, I reference Warriors Orochi 2 and 3, and Samurai Warriors before 3. It is somewhat upsetting since fire seems one of the most frequently used attack effects in gaming, and the dark color of the alternative fits Nobunaga's behavior in the Samurai Warriors series (at least up to 3).

I do think more characters with dark energy powers for Smash would be cool, especially Nobunaga. Besides, I'd say he's one of Koei Tecmo's most recognizable characters, although maybe not as recognizable as Ryu Hayabusa.
