It Would Be Too Ironic...?

As I browse through IGN.com's Super Smash Bros. Brawl Complete FAQ, I only see good things. The developers at IGN are really, really generous with their descriptions of various updates, good OR bad.

Take the Yoshi's Story Ending Music. Though many, including myself, like it, a large number of fans aren't too fond of it. Here's their description:

"Yoshi's Story wasn't the most well-received of games, but there's no faulting the emotion of its music. Its ending theme returns here in remixed form, and will be played in the background of the Yoshi's Island stage. Because hey, there's nothing like beating up your friends to the sounds of singing cartoon dinosaurs. "
-IGN.com

Now my point:

Many are concerned that the reviews of the game, from such sites as IGN and GameSpot, will be overwhelmingly negative. When I say "overwhelming", I don't mean giving Brawl a 3/10, I mean they will nitpick about stupid things, which will overall lead to a lower score than it deserves. As IGN puts this together, they say only positive things. It's obvious though, as what good does it do them to say negative things?

If IGN were to give Brawl a surprisingly lower score, wouldn't it be REALLY ironic. I hope they realize that, with all the hype they are giving this game, their score BETTER reflect their viewpoints.

Yes, people often whine about little things they wish they could have.

Don't be surprised to see someone give Brawl a 6/10 because they didn't get their favorite character in.

Wow, I never noticed that from IGN before.

Great insight!

They'll give it a better score they gave Mario Galaxy.
9-9.5/10 ftw.

They're not always positive. I believe they tried to find the one good point in the Dec 3 update, then said "join the rest of us in abject disappointment". They also have spoken out against the lack of voice chat and etc.

Why do you believe their reviews matter? This will be the best game since.........?
Anyways, do you know what IGN stands for?
I like to
Give bad reviews on
Nintendo, but not Halo 3
Everyone hates the big N just b/c no online play. Well, SCRW THM, there is.

confirmed. Sending supplies.
The real problem I find with IGN reviewing is that they praise a game a ton based on hands-on experiences before it comes out, then they turn around and give it a mediocre score. NiGHTS and Soul Calibur Legends are perfect examples. They praised both games then gave them low scores...

I don't know how thats ironic but... yeah Game Pro magazine complained that the Nintendog assist trophy covered up the whole screen... just deal with it... its the same as when Togepi turns the entire screen pitch black...

ya thats why i hate stupid websites rating video games, its useless, my friend wont ever play smash bros or any of my games because they dotn have a high enough rating, he only buys the games with a really high score from gamestop. Its a very stupid way to do it, which is why he will be nagging me about how much it sucks purely by looking at the score even tho he never played it

Who cares what people think, people will get this game either way because melee was so successfull, and everybody thinks brawl will be better or at least the same. Brawl's money intake from brawl will be staggeringly high, probably mroe than any other Wii game out now.

Tell your friend to stop being such a mindless sheep and form his own opinions instead of letting someone else tell him what they are.

Their rating and anyone else's ratings don't matter to me. I'm getting it because I believe it's worth my time. End of debate.
