I made a Kane moveset because if any character deserves to get in, it's Kane. Contains MASSIVE CITIZEN KANE SPOILERS.
Playstyle: Charles Foster Kane owns "a couple of newspapers" across the country and sees himself as a champion of the working man. Thus, Kane is primarily focused on support, applying buffs to his teammates and debuffs to his rivals. Ultimately, Kane cares only for his own reputation, and as such must keep an eye on his CITIZEN METER, which fills or empties depending on how well Kane currently performs. This allows him to snowball and control the flow of the match just as easily as he can manipulate the press while he is on top, but forces him to take drastic action as it empties.
Passive Abilities
With Wealth And Fame:
Charles Foster Kane has his current NET WORTH displayed over his head at all times. Though the value will appear to fluctuate based on Kane's current actions, this is purely aesthetic, as Kane is so wealthy, he has no need to acquire more money, and spending anything does not put a dent in his FORTUNE.
Good Old Charlie Kane:
Charles Foster Kane's attack power depends on the status of the CITIZEN METER. This meter fills up as Kane deals damage to enemies, and empties as Kane receives damage. Once the meter is full, Kane will hire THE GREATEST NEWSPAPER STAFF IN THE WORLD from The Chronicle to fight for him, which resets the state of the CITIZEN METER to 25% full. The staff act as AI controlled allies and can be targeted by Kane's moves. They do however run the risk of being easy to dispatch. Kane can have up to 10 NEWSPAPER STAFF, though it is highly unlikely this would ever occur.
I AM CHARLES FOSTER KANE:
If the CITIZEN METER empties, Charles Foster Kane will temporarily enter a BERSERK STATE. If any staff remain in play when this occurs, they will automatically be destroyed, and any buffs and debuffs Kane applied will be removed. In this state, Kane's attacks increased damage, but due to his rage, he cannot use any SPECIAL MOVES. After 10 seconds, a SNOWGLOBE will appear on the stage. If Kane or an ally picks this up, the CITIZEN METER resets to 25%. Enemies cannot pick up the SNOWGLOBE, as it appears to be worthless junk to them.
An Incomplete Puzzle:
Kane does not have a side attack on the ground. This is definitely not laziness, but instead a thematic reference to how Kane never finishes anything. Plus, it means you'll use the Cane more.
Ground Attacks
Neutral: The Cane from Citizen Kane
Kane swings his iconic Cane upward, thrusts it forward, then swings it overhead. The third hit of this three hit combo will BREAK ARMOR.
Up: The Big K
Kane hefts up an ice sculpture K above his head. This move can be CHARGED.
Down: Finish The Note:
Kane picks up a typewriter and punches the keys to write "WEAK." This can be CHARGED.
Aerial Attacks
Neutral: There Is A Man
Kane twirls his iconic Cane in front of him, dealing multiple hits.
Side: An Antique
Kane rips apart a copy of his Declaration of Principles.
Up: On Behalf of the Enquirer
Kane presents his trophy gifted to him on behalf of the employees of the Enquirer.
Down: Try to Get Drunk
Kane smashes a bottle of alcohol downward. This move is a SPIKE.
Specials
Neutral: Declaration of Principles/War
Kane shouts a DECLARATION in front of him, which takes the appearance of a newspaper headline. The type of DECLARATION changes depending on who it makes contact with.
DECLARATION OF PRINCIPLES
This will activate on allied players, including NEWSPAPER STAFF. If this hits, an ally will deal increased damage, and their actions will now reflect on Kane, allowing their actions to fill the CITIZEN METER. The more targets Kane has, the faster he can fill his CITIZEN METER, allowing him to take control of the match.
DECLARATION OF WAR (On Spain)
This will activate on enemy players, including enemy Kane's NEWSPAPER STAFF. If this hits the target is now Kane's ENEMY, and any damage dealt to the marked target will fill the CITIZEN METER, regardless if one of Kane's allies dealt damage. The marked target will deal less damage to Kane directly, but more to his CITIZEN METER.
Side: It was His Sl-
Kane slides forward on His Sled. In the air, this does not provide a vertical boost, but Kane can jump off of the ||Sled|| to aid recovery. This move has COOLDOWN.
Up: Greatest Private Zoo Since Noah
Kane calls a rare bird from his collection to lift him up. The bird's flapping deals damage.
Down: Statue Collection
Kane purchases a new STATUE for his collection. The STATUE acts as a wall when in play. As Kane always makes for good news, when a STATUE is in play, Kane's CITIZEN METER will decrease at a lower rate. The STATUE can be destroyed by enemies. Doing so will significantly lower the CITIZEN METER. Has COOLDOWN.
Misc:
Entry Animation:
In voiceover "Rosebud" can be heard as a snowglobe crashes onto the stage revealing KANE.
Taunt:
Kane awkwardly dances similar to how he does during the music number.
Win Animation:
Kane stands on a podium, promising that now that his victory is assured, he will make campaign promises. He has a unique line for each character.
Lose Animation:
Kane applauds the winner, just as he does during Susan's opera performance.
