I guess that's how some people look at it..
A lot of people that are still playing are people who enjoy the game because:
1. They were hooked from the beginning upon testing it
2. They followed the game's amazing development, patches, character additions, etc
3. The scene is amazing and diehard AF

Yes... except... DotA was always supported by the original game creators.

Project M never had that luxury.

But who knows... maybe one day we can get our own "League of Legends".

I would say know for 2 reasons, first most players like to argue that melee is better and second project m didn't real invent anything like how mobas were made huge by dota
