Is it too late for any serious changes by fan suggestion?

With the very detailed preview of SSBU in the rear view, is it pretty much confirmed that some of the changes we've been discussing now have zero chance of coming to life? Like, for example, my thread about the possible alteration of final smash activations, in which I suggested that final smashes (as an option) could possibly be accessed not on an item basis, but on an action basis so the better you fight the more you build up a final smash gauge, similar to the way you get ultimate attacks in Overwatch. I figure it's a dead idea because we've already seen how the character damage gauge looks and how it has a specialized design for Cloud's limits and Villagers pocket. So, if there were going to be Final Smash gauges, wouldn't we already have seen them mentioned?

Of course I can still cling to hope that my other big idea for Smash Bros. could come to be. That idea being the option of scenario design (or "Custom Smash") in which you can set all the parameters of a multiplayer match and then save them and name the settings by clicking on a tab on the character selection screen that says "Save Custom Smash" right above a tab that says "Load Custom Smash". So you can make very complex customizations and switch between complex customizations on the fly. For example, if you want to play a match of 5 stock with lightning speed and all the items being hammers, stars, beam swords, bats, fans, and star rods. Then you can set up all those options and save those settings with a name (like Violence A) to access them quickly. It's really such a good idea i'm surprised it hasn't been put into the game already. There were however things like "Mr. Saturn Smash" in Smash Tour, which would be one example of a "Custom Smash" that you could bring in if scenario design is actually implemented.

But back to the big question. Is it now pointless for us to try to come up with ways to improve the game, since it's so far along in development? Or is it possible there are still things that could be pulled from fan ideas that have been posted on Smashboards? I actually only got back into Smashbaords because I thought I might be able to get some of my ideas to better the game out there, where it could be found and utilized. Because I had this hunch that maybe Sakurai has people who search the boards for good ideas to add to the game. But should I and we abandon all hope now of such a miracle occurring?
