Hi guys, how's it going?
It's pretty readily available from what I understand, but then, I live in Portland Oregon.

Everyone's local provider is different, so I'd find out who provides high-speed internet in your area and find out how much it costs.

And yeah, Wii online will work with a high-speed internet connection.

You just need a wirless router, it should manage all the work and connect you wii to the internet.

Dear Santa:
For Christmas I would be very overjoyed if you could bring me a broadband, high speed internet connection, because dial up is as slow as tar and doesn't support anything. Thank you.
Sincerely ~ Soviet Prince

Yeah, dial up sucks. You should upgrade even if you can go Online with your Wii + Dial up.

I would but my area can't get anything and does a wireless router work for dial up.

Do you use a laptop or a desktop? What I do when I go home to The middle of Nowhere, GA is use a Sprint Aircard to connect. If you have a Wii and a wifi usb plug in (Like they use for the DSes) , a compatible laptop, and an air card you should be able to connect, but I realize that's a lot of money just to get to play Smash/Wii games online.

You NEED broadband. There's no point in using the internet if you don't have it.

There's a little thing you can stick in the back of the wii for that kinda stuff if you don't get any connection. You should be able to pick it up at your local Gamestop and such. Check the section with all the Wii peripherals and such.

Where do you live?

Seriously! even in the poorest of countries you can get hi-speed internet (price may not be small, but there is)

Location, location, location. I've read some of these comments and I must say some are very rude and inconsiderate. If everyone lived in the same "location" then this wouldn't be a problem.

I myself live in a somewhat backwater town (Think the woods) and I cannot get any other internet service other than dial up because they do provide it in my area. If they did I could easily afford it but since they don't...I don't have an option. They said they may provide it in the future however I don't know how long that'll be or even if they'll do it at all.

Be considerate people, not everyone lives in a location where a high speed isp service is available, so money may not even be an issue.

Hold the phone, buddy.
You should be able to get internet with dial-up on your Wii, and even play Brawl.
I was able to play my DS online with the USB connector, games like Mario Kart DS and Tetris DS worked fine. Although, there was visable lag in Mario Kart, I was usually able to go through games without disconnecting. Also, I got my Wii hooked up to the internet, and once I downloaded one of the more recent updates, the Wii Shop Channel began working on dial-up, (so it still should.) Downloads and updates to your console take a LONG time, so you may want to download stuff overnight and hope everything goes smoothly.

But the thing is, with Smash Bros., while you may be able to connect fine, and even stay in the game, you will bring with you lag that will cause the characters to blip all over the screen inexplicably, and your opponents will see you blip around like that aswell. So it would be impractical to use dial-up with Smash Bros. But not impossible.

So good luck, I know what it's like to live out of range of broadband, wireless and DSL connections.
