If SEGA made a Smash Bros like game, what would you want the roster to be?

I feel like the roster should at least have some of these characters: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Mighty, Ray, Shadow, Rouge, Omega, Amy, Cream, Big, Espio, Vector, Silver, Blaze, Mephiles, Metal Sonic, Infinite, Chaos, Zavok, Mecha Sonic, Shade, Black Doom, Eggman, Nights, Joker, Morgana, Ryuji, Ann, Yusuke, Makoto, Haru, Akechi, Sumire, Maruki, Shido, Kamoshida, Madarame, Sae, Kanoshiro, Minato, Yukari, Junpei, Mitsuru, Akihiko, Aigis, Yu, Chie, Yosuke, Bayonetta, Lara Croft.

Here's my own personal take:

1. The game would likely follow in the "Sonic and SEGA All-Stars" vein, meaning that Sonic would probably have the most characters as a series.
2. I can't imagine the game having more than, like, 50 characters, so I'll suggest 30, with 12 as DLC, making 42 in total.
3. I think DLC is likely.

Now, I think that most of it would take inspiration from the SASASR games, but with some characters that might not have been in those (characters like Candy from Fighting Vipers, Centurion from Altered Beast and basically any logical third-party apply here.)

On second parties such as Atlus and the like - I think it's most likely we'd see, at most, maybe Jack Frost/Jack Bros. SMT/Persona representation likely wouldn't be seen as important compared to getting plenty of Sonic characters in there, and maybe Hatsune Miku as a 3rd/4th party pick.

Notably - I think "modern" reps wouldn't be particularly common, with a lot of characters being from SEGA's past. Personally, my own take is that the only "new" characters (by which I basically mean post-Dreamcast) would be from particularly popular series such as Yazuka.

Also, Metal Sonic will wind up being DLC, because somehow he always does.

Interesting. If I may recommend like two characters, I think Shadow The Hedgehog and Goro Akechi could be cool fighters.

• Aoi was chosen because I wanted to represent some virtua fighter characters not from the first two games because not a lot of games have those
• I really don’t know that much about phantasy star but I wanted the rep to be from online, and from what I looked up I think ash cannnan might be the best choice. I might have a different opinion if I knew more about the series though.
• I chose Raidou because I feel like he’s more well liked as a protagonist than someone like demi fiend and because I just think he’s cooler, simple as that.
• I considered giving sakura wars and yakzua second reps but didn’t because I felt like there were too many realistic human characters
