If clones return...?

I have a few questions about Brawl clones, assuming they return. First of all, what would happen with final smashes? Would the clone get the same FS as it's counterpart, or get a new FS? Second, who would be a clone of who? Just asking for some input on the subject.

Sakurai said no clones, sorry.
no he didn't.

As for final smashes, they'll likely have their own.

As for who would be a clone of who:

Wolf: Fox
Kumatora: Lucas (ironically, it'd be the otherway around.)
Black Shadow: Capt. Falcon

There is a huge amount of hysteria around clones. I fail to see why they're so bad my self.

Do you seriously expect a game developer to have the time to design around 50 unique characters, and still create a whole host of alternative modes, music, trophies, subspace etc?

I agree but don't think that any of those characters will make it. Personally I believe that Luigi will remain as a clone but with some different moves.

First off, no-one expects 50 characters. 44 max.
Second, characters > everything else.
Therefore, yes.

Brawl is getting 3x the development time Melee had. You can take into consideration that there are more things in Brawl like online, stage builder, and SSE, but even so, there was quite a bit in Melee, and they pulled 20 unique characters. With what they have done, 40 unique characters is not THAT much to ask for, but I am still thinking the mid 30s area will be where characters will stand.

Ummm... we have clones. Look at Snake, for an example. And Mewtwo, assuming that he returns.

I don't have anything against clones, if used in moderation. Pichu and Doc were worthless in that they shouldn't have been characters at all, and maybe Roy too.

I didn't even read OP's post because clones are not returning. Sakurai said it himself, and that man is omniscient.

Having looks like a real human man and a charge up energy bolt does NOT make them clones. Similar appearance or the fact that two characters punch in the same motion does not make for a clone.

Personally I hope they return. Maybe not the ones from Melee, but any new clones are welcome imo. It's not like they're taking away from the characters already developed. The more the merrier. They'll probably have different final smashes if they're in.

He also said 3 third parties, and that brawl was coming out on Dec. 3rd.

Sakurai's plans have obviously changed.
Firstly, what are you talking about with this underlined text. Third party characters... wth is your point? He delivered that.
Secondly, Sakurai would rather not include a character or invent them a moveset than make them a clone, I can guarantee you that.

If clones from Melee return, they will probably have an altered move set, and not be clones at all anymore, or jsut be semi-clones.

And I believe Sakurai said we will see less clones, not no clones at all.
