Hey there everyone!

I'm new to the competitive scene of Smash Bros., and honestly just started getting serious late 2013. ( I know, late to the party by over a decade)

My family has had Melee since release date, but I never was all that good at it, and... well… I was only born 1998, so I was kinda a really small kid when it was popular with my brother, so I didn't learn much, other than I have a passion for the game and has always been my favorite series next to Pokemon.

I'm setting a very low, low, goal of winning a local Melee tournament. Seems small, but we will see where I go from there, if I can even do that, I have no idea, heh.

Only problem is, there's really nobody I can play it with, except for the occasional times my sister will when I ask. How would a person like me be able to practice and get onto a high level without a playing partner? What is everything that I could do?

Love this community. I watch competitive matches online when possible, and eager to learn as much as I can. I really do think I can do whatever I put my mind to, if I put the effort into it.

Thank you, everyone.

Search on facebook (there is also a thread that is stickied in this forum for the facebook groups). You might be surprised how many people play. Also, winning a local is a good goal. It's actually really hard. People are really damn good at this game and they will pretty much always improve. You have to improve faster than they do in order to beat them. Really though, first step would be to find your local scene.

Also, have you seen this video?

It covers a lot of the basic techniques that are very important in this game. The big thing about these techniques is that you can practice most if not all of them by yourself.
