Given that lots of people would hate the unlocking system because it's not very challenging, and everyone who wants all characters unlocked quickly wouldn't enjoy the current system either, I decided to make it a lot harder to unlock characters and make it a lot more satisfying. There would would be a cheat code to unlock everything for tournament organizers and doing the cheat code in reverse would undo the changes.
Starting roster: All members of the original 12 alongside the four cut from Smash 64: Bowser, King Dedede, Mewtwo and Marth
How to unlock the other characters (none unlocked through number of VS matches. In Classic Mode challenges that require a character, during 2 player mode only one person needs to use the required character. All VS matches against CPU's must be won and in multiplayer, up to four humans can fight the challengers):
Oh and if you find a way to overlap multiple character unlocks you will fight them each in separate rounds.
Peach, Daisy & Rosalina: Complete Classic Mode as Mario or Luigi. All three will fight you in a 3 vs 1 match and any who you defeat before losing will still be unlocked. In single player mode, you get 3 stocks and in 2 player, only Peach & Daisy will 2v2 you (while 2 Rosalinas will be fought afterwards).
Wii Fit Trainer: Complete Classic Mode on the highest difficulty.
Ice Climbers: 1v3 (or you can 2v6 if you like) 3 or 6 level 9 CPU's with 3 stocks each and team attack off.
Duck Hunt & Mr. Game and Watch: Complete Classic Mode as any character. Both will 2v1 you but you get 2 stocks if it's single player.
Bowser Jr: Complete Classic Mode as Bowser without losing a stock.
Roy: Score 150 KO's in Endless Multi Man Smash.
Ike: Clear 100 Multi Man Smash.
Lucina: KO your opponent at least 3 times in Rival Multi Man Smash.
Corrin: Clear 3 Minute Multi Man Smash
Robin: Score a KO in Cruel Multi Man Smash
Chrom: Clear 10 Multi Man Smash without taking damage.
Inklings: Play Squad Strike at least once.
Pokemon Trainer: Clear Classic Mode without taking damage as any Pokemon character.
Meta Knight: Play on all VS mode Kirby stages at least once.
Lucario: 1v1 a level 9 CPU in a 4 stock match without losing a stock and with items off.
Greninja: Use all 16 characters in VS mode at least once.
Pichu: Play 8 player Smash at least once (one must be a human but you can use CPU's)
Incineroar: Clear 10 Multi Man Smash as any Pokemon character under 30 seconds.
Zelda and Shiek: Score at least 1 KO in Cruel Smash as any Zelda character. Both will 2v1 you and if it's single player mode you get 2 stocks.
Ganondorf: Play 8 Player Smash using only Zelda characters (one must be a human but you can use CPU's)
Young and Toon Link: Clear any Multi Man Smash mode using only special moves. Both will 2v1 you and if it's single player mode you get 2 stocks.
Pit: Clear Classic Mode on the highest level without using a continue.
Palutena: Clear Classic Mode on any level in under 30 minutes.
Dark Pit: Play 8 player Smash using all Smash 64 starters (one must be a human but you can use CPU's)
Dr. Mario: Outscore your CPU opponent by 30 points in Rival Multi Man Smash.
Villager and Isabelle: Clear any Multi Man Smash mode using only smash attacks. Both will 2v1 you and if it's single player mode you get 2 stocks.
At this point I'm out of ideas. Any ideas you would like for a character I didn't list?
