When many people think of third party characters in brawl, they immediately think of the big names: Square-Enix, Capcom, Konami, Namco,...Tecmo, Ubisoft... even what's their name.
Hudon Soft hasn't exactly been on top in the recent years of gaming, and the first two mascots who come to mind for them are Bonk and Bomberman; BOTH incredibly awesome, but only seem to portay one side of the company. I offer to you a lesser known alternative, whom most will immediately compare to Link/Samus. Hagane.
no not her... this guy
not the best picture i know, even for an obscure video game, it's hard to find an actual picture for the full character

And here is a speedrun video, refer to see the Cyborg Ninja of vengance in action as well as the closest thing to a character profile picture.
Techniques
You're probably wondering what make this guy any different from (insert any generic character ever) in brawl. Here is my theory--feel free to flame from ashes to ashes.
Tumble-If you've watched the video, you will see that Hagane... will flip alot. It shouldn't have taken you long to realize that while he is tumbling, he is slightly invincible, HOWEVER, this is only while he is facing the opposite direction. Ex. Face left+flip right=invincible.
However there is a small period in between flips where you may be attacked; not that cool, but it can be worked around.
Then there is the forward tumble. this is different because it offers height over distance but on top of that offers up new techniques. At first he will perform a normal tumble, then he will glow blue, finally yellow, and back down to the normal tumble. With each color change, he will jump higher and stay in the air for longer, and depending on whether you press jump or attack, he will perform one of two different attacks per level! That's six attacks!! Ranging from
Level 1
-A Dragon punch w/ feint (Fist glow white and a dragon appears around his arm, stemming from his feet)
-A Flash Kick (He performs a short hop forward, leg a glow, and tears through anything in his way.)
Level 2
-Flip Kick- Hagane does a 180 flip, foot wrapped in some form of energy, and lands facing the opposite direction he was facing when he jumps.
-Fire Wheel Jump - Hagane jumps entire body eveloped in energy, continue to spin upward at an angle. At apex falls straight down to the ground.
Level 3
-Dragom Flame Rising Attack (When Hagane lands, he plants his sword in the ground. A reddish white dragon appears behind him and flame pillars shoot straight up 3 times, moving to his left and right side.
-...I dunno; Rising Dragon Swallow..?? - Hagane lands and jumps straight up, reeking of white energy, destroying everything in his path... to the ceiling.
His inventory includes:
-A katana - Also reeking of the reddish white fire energy, leaves a path when swiped--IDK HE'S A CYBORG NINJA!!
-Shuriken/Knives/Arrowheads - Take your pick; they are blue and leave white sparkle trails.
-Bombs/Grenades - Canister shaped, explode on impact
-Grappling Hook - Same tip/head as the shuriken
His double jump moves him in a rolling motion, horizontally in the air, with no vertical ascension or decrease. He has a megaman type sliding technique. Pressing down while in the air will begin a fast Flaming kick down to the ground, which jumps off of enemies for continued abuse
Why for/against Hagane??
I'm going to honest with you; personally I don't think Hudson Soft has a chance this time around. Perhaps if Sora LTD. sticks around after Brawl and decides to make another brawl, that might open the window for a few more characters, but even at that, acquiring the rights for such an obscure character might not be that bad for HS. Have you been to their american home page recently?? Have you seen the games they've been putting out?? Perhaps this will open the door for them in more ways than one. I love Bomberman(LIE-he's a cool dude though) but i don't think he can continue to support the company, at least in his appeal to the gamer demographic, unless you guys absoluetly loved Fishing Master and Blitz the League.
Will Update with application of already existing techniques, "the Sheik treatment" theory, and hopefully more media. If your word is good or bad, please contribute, but for the ninja's sake don't close this thread!! He's really got nothing left!!
I DO NOT EXPECT HIM IN, BUT IT WOULD MAKE EVERY OTHER DISApPOINTMENT MELT AWAY!
Supposed Move Sets
(For the purpose of this move set, I shall make stuff up, because god knows, Hudson Soft did not.)
His sword is the... Kaji Da no Ryuu-K!-Rekka Ken no Hadou - The blade is exposed by swinging the hilt, but even then it is completely unseen. Only in "Overdrive" mode will you be able to see the blade, if only for a short second. Because he has no real moves to draw from and only one game, this allows us to be very creative and imaginative in how to augment his already existing moves with perhaps techniques possessed by other ninjas, be them in fighting games or not... I will say full of shame I will be "borrowing" technique from the Virtua Fighter, Tekken, and perhaps Dead or Alive. Apologize for the honor crime I am so about to commit. If you wish me to specify which ones are original and which ones are borrowed, simply ask.
His crouch is odd, as he sits down on both knees, arms at his side, however he is ready to strike at a moments notice. His sword is mounted on his back horizontally at waist level.
A - Spear Hand: Shoves his hand straight out, flat, perpendicular to the ground.
A,A - Hilt Smack: Brings his hand back to his waist, detaches Kaji Da no Ryuu-K, and shoves with the bottomside of the hilt.
A,A,A - Fury Swipes: After a very-short pause and a switch in footing, he begins the basic sword attack you see in game. Swining left then right this 2-hit finisher does very little damage with very knockback.
A,A,A,Rep - Shinkuu Fury Swipes: This will come out more often then the standard combo. Hagane will have no short pause an immediately go into a Fury Swipes Vacuum multi-hit.
The opponent will begin to steam, but not turn read due to the heat. Hagane can slowly walk foward or backward by holding left or right after initiating the attack. It sucks the opponent in doing very little damage(1% every 2 swipes). However it is a fast attack; once started each button press swipes 2-3 times. The benefit of this move is that it can easily be cut off to combo into another move.
Dash A - Water Dragon Slide - Similar in appearance to his sliding move in game, Hagane, low to the ground laying on his back will slide feet first, a red water aura around his feet in the form of a dragon. If it connect late it will send the opponent in the air behind him, far in a low trajectory. If connects early, will launch the opponent straight up in the air.
F-Tilt A - Shikkyaku Zangetsu Niji Kirre(Falling Half Moon Rainbow Chop) - Pulls his forward leg back, steps forward again, bring his hand down in a straight vertical chop, spinning around. Can be tilted slightly up or down. Knockdown attack. Secret Spike.
U-Tilt A - Face: Heaven Chin Palm - Hagane takes a slight step forward, and pushed both palms straight up in front of him diaganolly. Similar to Ness's Up-Tilt only angled. Slight paralyzing effect, therefore due to slow falling speed incurred this can kill at highed percentages.
D-Tilt A - Dark Kick - Hagane puts his hand on the ground and does a stylish spinning sweep kick... this is hard to visualize, so I will say this; stolen from Raven of Tekken Series. It's the stylish low kick. Spins all around tripping, low vertical knockback.
F-Smash - (Tumble Attack Level One)Dragon Punch: A feint attack as he starts out hand on his hilt. Hagane will slightly slide forward and throw his arm straight out. A roar will be heard as the dragon forms a split second later, curling up his leg, behind his back, and forming it's mouth around the fist. Slow but powerful, think of G&W. Afterwards, he slowly slides back.
U-Smash - (Tumble Jump Level Two)Hadou Knee Flip-Hagane begins to emit steam from all over and performs the Jumping special flipping 2-3 times in rapid succession, sticking his knee straight upward depending on how long it is charged.
D-Smash - (Tumble Attack Level Three)Rising Flame - Hagane plants his sword in the ground, causing flames to gush up a small height immediately around him. Low trajectory high knockback.
N-Air - Star Shield Spin: Hagane performs his trademark spin, with his shuriken knives sticking out barely on six sides.
F-Air - Elbow Knee - Hagane tucks back for this two hit air attack. First performing a vertical elbow drop, then spinning once in air to perform a descending in air axe kick, followed by an in air horizontal elbow slash, knee's bent, spinning around a fourth time to perform a double knee dropped (the spike), and finishing it all off with a palm thrust attack.
B-Air - (Tumble Attack Level 2) Flip Kick - Hagane performs a flaming backflip kick, turning around in midair to about face.
U-Air - Nail Kick Diamond Sword Combo - First Hagane does a quick slash, comparable to Kazuma's jumping heavy, samurai showdown. On the second hit, he performs an inverted version of the dive kick with no momentum change.
D-Air - The Dive Kick: Hagane tucks one leg in and sticks the other straight out, foot first and set ablaze white. Will not force him to move straight down, as seen with sonic, hoever this has no delay. Though his body does not spin, his foot does. This is a drill attack. The influence of gravity is greater during this attack as he does not immediately fall straight down, but any horizontal movement is slowly lessened once initiated.
For most of his moves he would have his normal in game stance, however while charging or performing certain moves he would "borrow" the stances of certain other fictional ninjas perhaps.
Need to work on:
Possible Final Smashes, Grabs, Special Moves, Application of the remaining inventory and repetoire. Also I'll be making a photobucket/imageshack account to host some gameplay Screenshots, and perhaps show enemies to "borrow" attacks from
