how to use mario perfectly?

my cousin and i entered a tournament a while and and we lost in the first round he's a mario main a still new to the game i've been playing for over 6 years and have one doubles before so that loss was rly annoying i've tried to help him get better and he has a little but still not good enough to hold his own now another tournaments coming up and i need him to get better can i plz have some advice to share with him so he can get better

There is no perfect way to play a character. Everyone plays differently. Encourage him to make a Smashboards acount so he can learn from other players.

He's the perfect character in my opinion. Speed, strength, projectiles, etc. Use all his strengths effectively.
