Step 1:
Download Androu1's tool
http://www.mediafire.com/?mmzzwmqimlm

Step 2: Place the contents of it into one folder

Step 3: Copy dsptoolD.dll and dsptool.dll into your SYSTEM folder (found in the folder "Copy the files in this folder to your SYSTEM folder").

Step 4: Find an original BRSTM file you want to edit and place it in the Original Songs folder

Step 5: Run Start.bat

Step 6: Follow the prompts until it says "Read the enclosed instruction book. (Info\Info.txt)
Press enter when you've finished editing the WAV"

Step 7: Open the music file you want to place in the game with Audacity

Step 8: Change the time format to samples. Music will only loop properly on a starting point that is a multiple 14336.

Step 9: You can choose to edit the song to that it loops properly on a sample that is a multiple of 14336. I recommend using the Amplify effect on the song, it will make it as loud as possible without distortion. I also suggest trying out the Leveler function.

Here is a guide by Doval on finding a loop point.

I use Wavosaur and haven't had any problems sticking 44100 Hz songs into the game either.

I'm new to all this audio editing stuff, and I had a hard time getting this whole looping thing down, so I'd like to share what I've learned here. You can enter a number that's not divisible by 14336 when you're asked for the starting point of the loop. However, it seems the game will use the closest value smaller than what you entered that's a multiple of 14336. For example, if you enter 354432 as the loop start point, the song will loop at 344064. Obviously that'll wreck what would otherwise have been a seamless loop.

What I do is remove any unnecessary silence at the beginning of the file (all default songs in My Music stat immediately,) then find two points in the song where I can get a seamless loop going. I write down the sample number of both loop points. Then I find the closest sample that's bigger than the start point but still a multiple of 14336 - just divide the start point by 14336, round up, and multiply that by 14336. After I have my new starting point, I find the difference between that and the old one, and advance the ending point by that much.

For example, let's say I originally found the loop points to be 354432 and 3751168. The new start point would be 358400, since 354432/14336 = 24.7, and 25*14336 = 358400. The difference between the new start point and the old one is 3968. So the new ending point for the loop should be 3751168+3968 = 3755136. Then just crop out everything after the end of the loop and proceed as usual, using the new loop starting point when Androu1's tool asks for it.

Hope that helped.
Step 10: Open the WAV files the BRSTM tool created, these will be signified by <original BRSTM name>.wav (L/R if you are using stereo)

Step 11: If you are doing stereo tracks, split the track.

Step 12: Copy the two individual speaker tracks into the corresponding file, (so the left track goes into <original BRSTM name>L and the right track <original BRSTM name>R)

Step 13: Highlight each of the mono tracks (labeled <original BRSTM name> L and <original BRSTM name> R) and go to file-> export selection. When it asks if you want to overwrite the original, say yes.

Step 14: Open Start.Bat again and hit enter (just close the window if it asks about edittext.pl)

Step 15: When it asks you about the looping point, put in the starting point in the song, remember it must be a multiple of 14336. Hit enter

Step 16: Look through your folder and find a file called Lentgh.txt open it. Where it says samples COPY ONLY THE NUMBER. Then paste it into Start.Bat. Hit Enter

Step 17: When it asks you for a name of the song, give it a name. Then hit enter until the program closes. The edited BRSTM should be in the Edited Songs folder.

How to load music from the SD card

Step 1: Create a GCT file with these codes added to it.

I would like to point out that you should not attempt to combine this with the latest nightly unless you like painfully loud beeping noises coming from what should be your custom songs. I have a feeling it has to do with the gameconfig.txt, so wait for the next nightly or a fix.

I posted this in the texture thread where the code was first posted but I'll post it here too so more people can see it/try to find out what's wrong:
So I got this working, just replaced the menu music to start with to see if I did it right. Well the music played fine... mostly. It would play a high pitch screech kind of noise for a split second every 4-5 seconds or so, sometimes more frequently and sometimes less frequently. It did this for each of the four songs I tried. Not sure what's causing it.

Wait, does this mean you can load music from the SD card without burning? I heard that streaming music from the SD card (if possible) would cause a lot of strain on it, and the file replacement code couldn't replace music.

edit: Nevermind, I read about it just now.

The program is not creating WAV files as you say it is supposed to in Step 10. What am I doing wrong? I am using an original BRSTM file.

Yeah, I have the same problem.

EDIT: I renamed my original BRSTM to A01 and I was good to go, I think the file name needs to have no spaces (excluding characters like "-" would probably be a good idea as well)

But how do we get BRSTM files? Is it possible to convert Mp3s?

Confirming this as well. Though it seems that without a custom character screen, it freezes less often (at least from my experience)

The new version of the code fixed all my problems completely. I did get a freeze when I was setting my buffer when I first turned it on, but after restarting it I had no problems. I've got about 60 songs on my SD card so far and they all work with the exception of a couple, and that's probably because I screwed up when making them.

I love how I just bought an internal DVD burner, bought Lopex to SATA power adapters for my old computer to use it, 50 DVDs, wasted 2 of them troubleshooting songs...

And this comes out.

Wow, f*ck you Sakurai.

First you make me not autosweetspot the ledge from a Dancing Blade in about every iteration of Brawl and Melee...and now this.

<_<

good sh*t Phantom Wings...good **** ;_;

At Step 12, when I try to copy the speaker tracks to the corresponding tracks, Audacity stops responding and I have to close it out. Does anybody know why this might happen or what I could be doing wrong?

You have to wait a little bit for it to work, don't keep clicking around after you copypasta.

Waiting doesn't work, I left it alone for over 2 min and nothing changed.

Edit: I'm good now. I think I solved my problem.

Well, I converted the BRSTM into WAV, edited, followed all the instructions, put everything where it belongs, and when I try to go to the stage and listen to the music there, I get the LBOD (loud buzz of death aka crash). ><

Everything up until the point where I have to open the length file works. When I open it, its empty. I'm pretty sure somethings missing, but...

Yes, the .dlls are in my system file and system32 file.

Every time I make a brstm, in game, there's some lag before it starts playing...and no, it's not the wav file I'm using. What's up with that?

Ah. So I assume no way to fix it or make it shorter?

EDIT: Like, I'm experiencing a huge gap, but my friend is not. Then again, I'm testing all of this on a 256 MB card that was at the bottom of a melted candle a few years ago. So that could be it, right?

Ken, you need a bigger sd card. Probably a 1 GB one.

BTW, where can I get a brstm file for a song that i want to replace a song ingame with? Google isn't helping, really. @_@

Haha, I have one, the one I'm using is just a test card. Also, from what I've done, you don't need an original brstm file. And besides the lag, which I discovered WAS from the small SD, I've had no problem. All I did was:

1. Stick MP3 in Audacity, play with it till loops or find point (by sampling) where I wanna make my looping point.
2. Split into mono tracks, and save them separatly into two wav files.
3. Save them as __L.wav and __R.wav.
4. Stick them in the root folder of Androu1's tool and follow instructions (Select letter, type in __(the name without the .wav or the L/R) and press enter, then follow instructions.

EDIT: Oh! Also, why do the guides say put them in 32000 Hz? I haven't needed to yet.

If you're using Audacity, there's no need for to changing to 32 kHz
