How to add characters from Legacy XP to Project +?

It's just as the title says. I am interested to add some characters from Legacy XP to Project + (mainly Shadow The Hedgehog, Metal Sonic and Waluigi ), but I'm not sure how to do it. If anyone knows, it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Do I simply have to find character files on Brawl Vault? I'm just not sure how Brawl EX works...
